Job Description
Role and responsibilities
The purpose of the LFS Officer position is day to day implementation of the livelihood and food security project. The following is a brief description of the role.
Generic responsibilities
Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines.
Implement delegated LFS project activities according to the plan of action.
Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
Ensure proper filing of documents according to SSD policy.
Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need and explore and assess new and better ways to assist.
Promote and share ideas for technical improvement.
Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders.
Specific responsibilities
Plan, facilitate, and conduct training in conceptual understanding of business and market development and capacity building for beneficiaries and stakeholders.
Provide technical support and applicable tools to project beneficiaries, and community structures, in identifying demand-based potential and demand preproduction/products developing business market development plans
Support beneficiaries in promoting business and market development on the identified potential products and services.
Support and follow up livelihood intervention actors in the refugee camps and surrounding in conducting value chain analysis for potential products in their respective refugee and host locations.
Facilitate smooth networking of the livelihood targets with micro financing institutions for financial services that enhance business activities.
Follow up & monitor implementation of livelihood activities as per the plans.
Participate in assessment, design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation processes of the Assosa program for various intervention activities of the program.
Competencies

Generic professional competencies:
Minimum 3 years’ experience working as Project Officer in a humanitarian/recovery context
A University BA Degree in rural development and agricultural extension, Agronomy, Disaster risk management, Agricultural Economics, Developmental Economics, or related field
Relevant experience in planning, implementing and following up on livelihood and food security projects such as business plan development, entrepreneurship, and small enterprise development.
Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
Fluency in English, both written and verbal
Context/ Specific skills, knowledge, and experience:
Knowledge of the livelihood context (gaps and needs) in Assosa operation
Experience in organizing self-help groups or business groups before the provision of the start-up kits in kind or cash
Demonstrated understanding of the cooperatives and small enterprise development policy, cash transferring program practices in Ethiopia
Demonstrated conceptual and analytical thinking skills in areas of economic development,
Skilled trainer with experience developing and delivering training to a varied audience, such as project staff, stakeholders, national staff, and authorities
Contribute to the program activity monitoring and evaluation
Contribute to proposal and project report-writing and team-building experience and skills
