Job Description

Hope & Healing Program protection officer primary role is to support the HHIT team and the faith-based program implementation. The Officer provides initial trainings and ongoing support of HHIT staff. Responsible for strategic planning and coordinator works together with the Program Manager and the HHIT Team by networking and building relationships with the community and faith-based organizations. Responsible for staff care and nurture to ensure the wellbeing of the staff working in conflict environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

o   Schedule and lead meetings with Community and faith-based leaders explaining the vision and commitment of HHIT project.

o   Meet with interested faith-based organization leaders to share about HHIT program and discuss opportunities for a faith-based organization to get involved in HHIT.

o   Lead initial trainings for Tigray Teams, liaison between the HHIT Program and faith-based organizations

o   Connect families who suffered trauma with faith-based organizations based on location, cultural interests and needs of individuals and families

o   Notify teams of upcoming appointments for counseling’s and maintain communication with the case manager and team.

o   Work with Hope and Healing Protection Coordinator in developing and fostering relationships with other community organizations and HHIT workers who work on HHIT in Tigray.

o   Work with the Hope and Healing Protection Coordinator and the HHIT connections to identify potential connections between HHIT team and families, according to the family’s expressed needs and location, and the team’s

o   Liaises with local and international organizations/institutions for research, development and for HHIT curriculum enrichment purposes.

o   Provides technical support on workshops, conferences and training initiatives and interprets or relays policy directives on HHIT curriculum to staff to guide their work.

o   Be fully engaged and enlist the support of all staff, whether paid or volunteer, for the HHIT program implementation.

o   Preparing presentations by researching and writing about how to present lessons to the staff to meet their spiritual needs.

Job Requirements

o   Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, psychiatry or related field.

o   Experienced & comfortable to work with faith-based leaderships and with identifiable good counseling skills

o   Experience working on curricula such as Healing Wounds of Trauma        

o   Experience implementing projects with trauma affected

o   Minimum of 3 years of work experience in relevant fields, preferably within similar projects.

o   High level of fluency in English, Amharic and Tigrigna (speaking, reading, writing).

o   Strong computer skills in MS Word, Excel, Power Point and email applications

LANGUAGE 

Spoken, written and reading in English mandatory; fluency in Amharic and Tigrinya mandatory.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

·       Ability to coordinate activities with other agencies, build and maintain positive working relationships.

·       Ability to understand complex security situation and advise program design accordingly.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form.
