Working alongside persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups, our action and testimony are focused on responding to their essential needs, improving their living conditions.  Responsibilities

1  Activity Implementation and management support

  • Develop monthly project activity plan, in collaboration with OPD empowerment officer, CRS implementing partners and OPDs with the validation of the project manager and/or OPD empowerment officer.

  • Provide coaching and ground technical guidance to field level CRS /partners in targeting and participation of persons with disabilities in their activities (food security)

  • Ensure the representation and participation of OPDs in the Food Security Task Forces (FSTFs) at woreda, kebele and community levels.

  • Make regular field sites visits (districts /primary distribution points and community level) to support Persons with disabilities   to participate in the FSTFs and community-based group discussions.

  • Be the focal point for sharing information to CRS and partners regarding disability inclusion and persons with disabilities with the knowledge of OPD empowerment officer  

  • Train and coach persons with disabilities   to claim their rights in accessing services equally and effectively participate in FSTFs discussions.

  • Along with CRs and partners, efficiently and effectively engage in community targeting process and ensure that PWDs are also included.

  • Support and closely work with FSTFs at woreda, kebele, and community levels and ensure active participation of PWDs in the task forces.

  • Frequent visits to Primary distribution points to observe and monitor the participation and inclusion of PWDs in accessing the services

  • Conduct regular meetings with CRS and partners to review the progress of activities specifically focusing on persons with disabilities

  • Work in close collaboration with CRS and implementing partner organization preparing and facilitating regular disability inclusive activities in the field

  • Share relevant information to OPD empowerment Officer and assist him in preparation of reports and documentation of case studies / and promising practices

  • Perform other related duties and/or tasks as may become necessary or requested by immediate supervisor

 2  Proper documentation and record keeping

  • Ensure proper documentation and efficient use of project’s resources.

  • Produce terms of reference and activity reports for each activity implemented.

  • Coordinate with OPD empowerment officer, OPDs and CRS implementing partners to provide inputs for the periodical reports to submit to the Project Manager.

  • Carry out regular recording and reporting of activities, field trips and meetings; in coordination with OPD empowerment officer

  • Compile monthly and project activities report and submit to PM and/or OPD empowerment officer.

  • Use Washington Group Tools for disability inclusion data collection

  • Maintain a database of information on the project (Disability, Gender and Age disaggregated).

  • Participate in compiling lessons learned, designing and implementing events for exchange of experience.

  • Contribute to designing system to compile and disseminate good practices.

  • Ensure regular recording of field trips and activity implementation

  • Prepare and submit monthly time sheet.

3. Maintain a high quality of work

  • Study and maintain a high level of knowledge and skills in understanding disability, inclusion of person with disabilities, CRPD and SDGs and implementation.

  • Coordinate with the project manager, OPD empowerment officer and the project team, to ensure the project and its activities are in compliance with local laws and regulations, HI standards and CRS requirements.  

4.  Responsible for implementing the safeguarding policies at project level

  • Prepare work plans and implement safeguarding (child protection, PSEA) activities.

  • Ensures that the local partners are aware of the safeguarding policies and facilitate trainings to build their capacity in this regard

  • Ensure that the safeguarding policies are implemented at all levels in the project site

  • Ensure that project beneficiaries are aware of these policies and promote to report any concern regarding child protection or PSEA

  • Monitor and document the progress of child protection and PSEA activities.

  • Report immediately any concern, incident to the PM/PD concerning child protection and PSEA.

  5 Relationship management

  • Represent HI on the work-related engagement with government partners, OPDs and CRS implementing partner organization in the course project implementation under the supervision of the OPD empowerment officer.

  • Cooperate with local government counterparts and other stakeholders to realize the project objectives.

  • Maintain conducive working relationships with staff members, CRS implementing partners, OPDs, persons with disabilities and local government to facilitate the implementation of the activities.

     1.Management

    The DI coaches will be line-managed by the Project Manager, who is in turn managed by the Operational Manager. The Disability Advisor, DI and Food Security Lead will support both the project manager and the project officer with technical assistance in order to ensure the overall quality of the action’s outputs.  For this reason, the OPD empowerment project officer will report to the Project Manager (PM) based in Addis Ababa.

    2. Mission 

    The DI Coaches are working under the direct supervision of the OPD empowerment officer and will be based in 6 different regions CRS/partners offices with frequent travel in woredas most of his/her time to be available for technical support of CRS and implementing partners. The overall objective of the position is to provide technical and coaching support to OPDs in order to ensure and improve their effective participation and representation in Food Security Task Forces (FSTFs) and community platforms.

Job Requirements

        Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of programmatic and technical experience in the area of inclusion

  • Knowledge and understanding the rights of person with disabilities, CRPD and SDGs

  • Hands-on experience on the rights of person with disabilities

  • Experience engaging with organizations of persons with disabilities (OPDs) – providing technical advice and coaching

  • Experience in targeting, identifying, and addressing participation barriers of people with disabilities,

  • Experience integrating disability identification processes with specially in food security programs

  • Experience and knowledge on disability inclusion and the rights of people with disabilities

  • Strong ability to provide qualitative disability inclusion reports

  • Good knowledge of data collection, analysis and reporting following

  • Computer literacy (Word, Excel and Power Point).

  • Diligence and attention to detail

  • Ability to travel and work independently in remote areas

  • Good facilitation, interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Language: Knowledge of local language is mandatory for each working area; command of Amharic and English is an asset.
