We are looking for a motivated Software Developer Intern to join our team. You will gain practical experience working on the biggest open-source and in-house developed platforms as a software engineer intern to enhance user experience. Additionally, you'll have the chance to collaborate with senior programmers and learn crucial skills for designing scalable, high-performance software platforms. The intern will technically report to Digital learning technical lead, and work in collaboration with WASH program and SDG WASH project staff

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate and work with the WASH MIS software developer, WAI partners and Amref Digital learning technical lead

• Roll out the implementation of WASH MIS for Shashmane, Negele Arsi districts and West Arsi Zone WASH Government department and offices

• Train, mentor and build the capacity of Shashmane, Negele Arsi districts and West Arsi Zone WASH Government department staff at utilizing the WASH MIS

• Identify WASH MIS champions from each government WASH offices and departments and provide special training that would enable them trouble shooting

• Provide remote support for Shashmane, Negele Arsi districts and West Arsi Zone WASH Government department and offices

• Develop expansion plan of the WASH MIS to other WASH project districts.

• Developing applications (coding, programming)

• Debugging, testing, and deploying code

• Documenting and testing new software applications

• Researching, investigating and fixing a wide range of technical issues

• Collaborating with senior leaders

• Approaching problems and creating solutions or fix any problems that might happen in the system

• Proactively learning about new technologies

• Add other features to the system based on the needs and priority of partners

• Supervise and Provide technical support to Zonal and district level partners on the implementation and use of WASH MIS system

• Assist in building applications that employ PowerApps and Flow for mobile-enabled data entry and reporting.

• Assist with system monitoring activities

• Assist on elaborating and cleaning of WASH data gathered

• Willing and comfortable to travel to the field and assist community, woreda, and zonal level WASH actors

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in software engineering, computer science, or any related field of study

• Zero years of work experience

• Experience with various programming languages mainly Python, PHP, JavaScript, and Java.

• Experience with various frameworks mainly Django, Popular JavaScript Frameworks (I.e., React, Vue, Nextjs, TypeScript, etc.), Mobile app development frameworks (I.e., Flutter, React Native, Android Java, Kotlin, etc.), and Node.

• Experience with various database mainly Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB, and SQLite.

• Having real world experience is a plus

• Strong communication and presentation skills

• Ability to interact with cross-functional teams

• Strong problem-solving abilities

• Highly developed analytical and organizational skills

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
