Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Finance Manager is responsible for internal and external reporting. Specific responsibilities include:
BOOKKEEPING AND FINANCE (75%)
Perform financial management duties including review of financial data, reporting, and assessing the financial health of the organization.
Review general ledger transactions on a monthly basis to ensure completeness, cut off, occurrence and accuracy of recorded transactions.
Ensure all accounts are reconciled and conduct a month-end closing process.
Ensure compliance with tax and other regulatory requirements.
Update the team on new tax laws and ensure tax compliance.
Ensure client billing and payments are processed timely.
Ensure that suppliers are paid timely, all supporting documents are properly filed and procurement policy complied with in all purchases.
Ensure financial transactions are accounted for in accordance with the applicable accounting framework, company’s policies and international accounting and financial reporting standards.
Prepare cost estimates for funds required by the company on a monthly basis.
Prepare internal, regulatory and funders reports on a monthly and quarterly basis.
Participate in the budgeting process and ensure that the company budget is monitored throughout the year.
Ensure assets are recorded with completeness, tagged, regularly updated with disposals and acquisition and depreciation is run on a monthly basis
Be the lead person for the annual statutory audit and tax audit of the company.
Prepare financial statements comprising Statement of comprehensive Income, Statement of financial position and Statement of cashflow together with the notes to the financial statements a monthly basis
Prepare annual financial statements following the end of each financial year.
Conduct benchmarking exercise and ensure that the organization keeps at par with the best practices within the industry.
Oversee overall company finance operations.
Evaluate the financial performance of the organization and advise management accordingly.
Regularly update the Financial Controller, Finance Reporting Manager, Finance Director and the Managing Director of any new or change in laws and regulations affecting the company’s operations.
Provide support to the Financial Controller, Finance Reporting Manager, Treasury Manager, Finance Director and other Company Management as required.
GENERAL ADMINISTRATION (25%)
Work with the Procurement and Administration officer in ensuring compliance with the procurement policy.
Advise the procurement team to ensure both value for money and tax compliance in the various purchases.
Supervise and provide leadership to the Finance team in all branches of the company including setting annual goals and quarterly performance reviews.
Work with the Financial Controller to assess training & coaching needs of the team under your supervision to ensure they are always upskilled to perform their daily duties effectively and efficiently.
Work with the Financial Controller to design and implement appropriate internal controls.
Work with the Treasury manager to advise management on investment and financing opportunities.
Work with the Treasury manager to negotiate good financial deals with local commercial banks
Work with other departments and ensure they understand finance policies and processes and comply with them.
Minimum Qualifications
Successful candidates must navigate fast-paced environments with enthusiasm and incredible attention to details.
Minimum qualifications include:
University degree in accounting or related field and professional qualification: CPA or ACCA, CFA or CIFA or any other accounting or finance related qualification will be preferred
Skilled in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and financial modeling
Skills in using accounting software's and ability to learn new ones.
Good understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards and Country’s applicable tax and legal & regulatory framework
Good understanding and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAPs) and International accounting standards (IASs)
Ability to assess risks and exercise reasonable judgment in making decisions.
Analytical and reporting skills with the ability to pay attention to details.
Ability to meet deadlines and work independently with the highest personal integrity and critical thinking.
At least 4 years of work experience in accounting and finance, external financial & compliance audit or other relevant field, with at least 2 years in a team supervisory or managerial position.
English and Country’s national language fluency required.
