Job Description

Major Duties of the Assistant Focal Person

  • Assist in providing regular counseling support as required, visits the students in their respective location and regularly contacting them (by phone, email and/or social media) for counseling of the DAFI scholars and intervention on problems that may arise during their studies;

  • Assist in organizing DAFI consultative workshops;

  • Assist in establishing/supporting the already existing DAFI social clubs;

  • Assist in keeping detailed systematic records on scholarship holders and stakeholders;

  • Assist in maintaining regular contact with scholarship holders for support and verification purposes;

  • Assist in providing skills towards the preparation for employment of graduating scholarship holders;

  • Assist in preparing annual budget proposals as per the guidelines;

  • Assist in preparing monthly/quarterly/biannual/annual activity and financial reports as per the requirements of AEEG and that of the DAFI Programme;

  • Assist in participating and reporting in DAFI related meetings;

  • Assist in the timely disbursement of funds/support as per the DAFI policy and program guidelines for scholarship holders;

  • Assist in handling AEEG database (hard, soft copies);

  • Assist in liaising with AEEG and its branches towards mobilization of members for program implementation as required;

  • Assist in the preparation of the Association’s Workshops/Assemblies, preparation of reports, brochures, newsletter, etc.; and

  • Assist in undertaking other related activities towards the DAFI program implementation and other AEEG activities as dispensed by the AEEG’s Office Executive Director.

Accountability

The employee shall be accountable to the A.E.E.G.’s Office Executive Director.

Job Requirement

  • Master’s degree in psychology, social work, sociology and special needs education fields;

  • Professional experience in providing counseling within the context of migration;

  • Excellent communication  and reporting skills, fluency in speaking , writing and reading in English and Amharic languages, ability of German language is an advantage;

  • Ability to work in a team;

  • Very good computer application skills including database and spreadsheet programs;

  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently;

  • Ability to work under strict deadlines/stressful conditions; and

  • Four years of work experience related to the fields.

Duty Station: Addis Ababa

Gross Salary: 19,891 ETB with additional insurance and severance benefits.
