Our company will develop, in Ethiopia, an oilseeds clusters program to source from contracted out-growers (cluster of farmers, commercial farmers) and oilseeds grains integrators (traders/coops/…) large quantities various oilseeds (sesame, soybeans, sunflower, rapeseeds, groundnuts) to supply its Solvent Extraction Plants.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Executing the R&D program – in situ trials platform- and all subsequent activities such as land selection and contracting, sowing, implementation of the package of good agricultural practices, monitoring, data collection and synchronization etc.-

• Ensuring the execution of the administration process for new variety registration in Ethiopia - MoU with research center, candidature format, supporting documents  etc-.

• Ensuring the proper execution of the varieties registration process – land selection in collaboration with the research center, monitoring the strict implementation of the package of good agricultural practices from sowing to harvest, managing the harvest, and post-harvest sample analysis in view of registration.

• Reporting as per the defined schedule, the observations and results obtained  – varieties agronomical performance per location per repetition, yields, laboratory analysis etc.-

• Ensuring the management of R&D contracts – Contract signatures and collection of all relevant annexes, payments of labor and contractees etc.-

• Supporting the design and the planning of the R&D program.

• Supporting the design and the planning of the variety registration strategy.

• Liaising with the international hybrid seeds consultants for oilseeds clusters.

EXPECTED RESULTS

• One hundred percent of trials have been sowed and managed timely following the defined R&D program methodology

• Timely collection of trials and variety registration data as per schedule,

• 6 out of 9 trials can be submitted for national variety registration committee

• 75% of trials results are statistically relevant,

• Timely submission and accuracy of trials and variety registration fields monthly progress and analysis report,

• Timely and constructive cooperation with international hybrid seeds consultant

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Experience:

• 5 years of experience of which at least 3 in the sector relevant to the JD (Agriculture research, Variety trials, Statistic analysis etc.)

Education

• BSc/MSc degree Plant science/Agronomy/Agribusiness and/or related fields
