Job Description

Kerchanshe Trading P.L.C is the leading producer and exporter of coffee in Ethiopia. It has a proud history of providing quality coffees to the local and international markets.  Currently our company needs a dedicated and motivated candidate.

Background

  • Legal officer provides a full range of legal services to company on relevant issues, ensuring compliance with internal controls and other formalities and calculate risks in business processes and decisions while drafting contracts for patents or trademarks - all this is done before executing procedures that protect designs from infringement lawsuits. You are also handle litigation when needed. Legal officer are responsible for advising executive members on new laws, existing ones, and legal rights that would impact the functionality of the business. You are overseeing all aspects within this sphere, including acting as its representative; maintaining knowledge about the company's documents and operations. A Legal officer acts as a company’s lawyer, who handles all legal matters within the company and does not work independently. You work with management and employees within their business to ensure laws are being kept.

Responsibility

  • Advising the company’s on all legal matters that may arise in the companies’ operations;

  • Drawing and vetting of contracts, agreements and other legal documents;

  • Negotiating for contracts;

  • Following up on cases filed against the company’s and preparation of legal reports and

  • Liaising with external lawyers and the company’s legal office on all cases filed against the company’s to ensure instructions, witnesses and statements are procured on time;

  • Developing, implementing and reviewing legal policies and procedures to ensure that they are in accord with the existing legislation;

  • Coordinating the company’s complaint management system;

  • Advising the company’s on the legislation that affect the company’s and changes made thereof;

  • Know how to recruit, train, manage and retain legal talent.

  • Stay informed about what's going on at the company.

  • Understand the business and the industry.

  • Advise the executives and employees on changes to the laws affecting the company.

  • Investigate if the company or a staff member does not comply with the law.

  • Ensure the company fills out and submits all its legal paperwork.

  • Monitoring compliance with legal and statutory requirements of the company’s;

  • Providing of day to day legal and regulatory support to the functional areas covering general compliance queries and reviews; and

  • Carry out any other duties relating to labor laws of the country or the company’s rules and regulation generally as may be directed by the head legal services from time to time.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a recognized institution.

  • A minimum 1-2 years relevant work experience in Public service or Private sector,

  • Experience at Ethiopian labor law is more preferable.
