 Shayashone is an emerging business engaged in agribusiness advisory/consultancy services, manufacturing and distribution, commercialization of social impact products and import and export. Recently, the company has expanded its portfolio to education sector on a project with a development organization.

 Short Description of the Position

Shayashone PLC is looking for an agribusiness expert who will be in charge of managing projects under the consultancy business function. Our consulting portfolios mainly focus in developing/implementing different value chain projects, privates sector capacity building, investment and public-private partnership models advisory, project management, and research on different topics in agriculture and agribusiness. Currently we are looking for a competent agribusiness expert to lead the consultancy business function. The expert reports to General Manager and will be based in Addis Ababa. S/he will be traveling to different places within the country.

 Key Roles and Responsibilities

 Project Management and Coordination

  •  Responsible for planning, implementing and monitoring of projects under the consulting unit.

  • Fund management, planning and disbursement of grant funds

  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.

  • Take an active role in facilitating project-related stakeholders’ meetings.

  • Manage relationships with clients and all stakeholders in relation to each project.

  • Proactively communicate the management on potential issues that need attention on each project. 

Research and documentation

  •  Responsible to lead short term action researches.

  • Develop compressive high standard technical reports based on research findings and analyses.

  • Supervise the young experts within the consultancy team and review their product work to keep quality.

  • Responsible for project acquisitions and proposal development

  • Play active role to bring new potential clients/ partners

  • Participate in developing new products-example agribusiness training, social impact product commercialization.

 Manage Client Relationship

  •  Manage relationship with client and all stakeholders in relation to each project

  • Ensure customer satisfaction and retention for long term business relation

  • Manage all communications with partners and facilitate discussion as and when needed.

  • Collect regular customers’ feedback and develop ways the consulting business unit can be improved.

 Coaching, Training and organizing

  •  Act as team driver with consulting business unit and beyond to build shared vision and objectives in order to achieve the required results and synergies. 

  • Responsible for direct supervision of 4-5 FTEs.

  • Act as lead and / or support for key people processes-recruitment and induction, training and development, performance management, benefit and compensation and employee relationship for the consulting business unit.

  • Introduce different team building programs and provide leadership by example, on the job coaching, training and development that enhance capacities and synergies of consultancy team and beyond.

  •  Excellent communication skills in Amharic and English.

  • Outstanding diplomatic, influence and persuasion skills to sell products and services.

  • Mastery in demonstrating personal effectiveness and delivering results through people.

  • Outstanding skills in planning, organizing and reporting.

  • Strong ability to organize communities.

  • Strong analytical and critical reasoning and problem-solving skills.

  • Champions in fostering partnership and stakeholder relationships.

  • Ability to perform under stress with minimal supervision and able to handle multiple tasks at a time in calm and organized manner. 

  • Hands-on and pro-active approach.

 Technical Competencies

  •  Proven track record in product and business development.

  • Outstanding in organizing, analysing and interpreting data and developing strategies and business plans.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint packages.

  • Sound understanding of working practices in PLC

  • Detail understanding of the Ethiopian agriculture and business development sector

Type of employment:   Indefinite

Preferred Age Range:   28-40 years

Reports to:  General Manager

Job Requirements

Education, Work experience and Language

  •  Master’s or equivalent in agribusiness, business administration, agricultural economics, economics, rural development, and other related fields

  • At least 5 years’ hands on experience in business development, project management, agri-business, market development and community organization.

  • Proficiency in spoken and written English languages is a must.

  • Preference is given for people who have first-hand experience in private sector working on agricultural business.
