Job Description

Role Purpose

The post holder will lead the English Programmes (EP) portfolio of contracts and programmes in-country, providing technical sector expertise. They will oversee business development and quality, compliant delivery of programmes and contracts to improve standards of the teaching, learning, and assessment of English. The successful candidate will share knowledge, expertise, and best practice from the country with the regional and global English Programmes teams and externally.

Role-specific knowledge and experience: Essential requirements:

  • Qualified to postgraduate degree level in ELT or other English-specific qualification

  • Experience in managing teacher education projects

  • Experience in delivering externally funded projects or programmes

  • Experience in overseeing monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) within projects and incorporating lessons learned from MEL into programmes and strategy

  • Experience in engaging with diverse stakeholders including multilateral agencies, donors, government officials, academics

Desirable:

  • TEFL-Q: a diploma level qualification in teaching English as a foreign/second language that meets accreditation UK requirements

  • Experience in managing teacher education projects for English language teachers

  • Experience in managing online teacher education projects

  • Experience in writing for academic journals and presenting at international conferences

  • Experience of client funded contract pursuit

 Role-Specific Skills:

  • Able to lead on strategy and process development for innovative English/ education solutions

  • Able to lead the development and implementation of quality standards for English/ Education

  • Able to lead on strategy and commissioning of global thought leadership outputs, such as publications

  • Able to lead relationships with the UK sector

Pay Band – 8

Contract Type – Two (2) Year Fixed Term Contract

Location – Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Language requirements: Strong written and oral English communication skills. English at CEFR C1/C2 level

The role holder must have existing rights to live and work in the country in which the role is based.
