Alight is currently in the process of responding to humanitarian situation in Ethiopia.
Alight focuses on lifesaving humanitarian interventions as well as recovery and resilience building programs designed to create lasting positive change in the lives of vulnerable people. Alight works closely with displaced persons, returnees, refugees and communities affected by natural and man-made disasters, providing a range of integrated assistance including primary and curative health care, water and sanitation, protection services, restoration of strategic health and water infrastructure, dignified housing for returning refugees, and sustainable job creation. Alight has also built strong relationships with development partners, agencies, as well as federal and local governments in order to approach challenges in an inclusive and holistic manner and come up with innovative solutions that best fits the local context.
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Under the supervision of the CP/GBV Officer, the GBV/CP Assistant Officer will supervise, coordinate and support the GBV/CP program in a professional manner. She /he will demonstrate technical capability and assist the GBV/CP social workers to make sure the program is holistic, upholding according to standards, procedures, and principles of CP/GBV. She/he will coordinate the various services available on the IDP site.
Major Responsibilities:
Participate in the Selection of women and girls-friendly space and child-friendly space establishment sites through consultation with government bodies in coordination.
Follow up the construction of women and girls-friendly spaces and child-friendly spaces to ensure timely completion of the construction and start of psychosocial support activities.
Recruit, supervise, and capacitate social workers formally and informally to ensure quality psychosocial support activities are implemented in women and girls-friendly spaces.
Organize targeted awareness-raising activities to sensitize the returnee community on GBV-CP issues and available services and support.
Support in organizing project launching and closing out workshops with government structures, community leaders, and other service providers.
Support GBV- CP in capacity-building training to WoSA, health, legal, and other service providers on GBV topics.
Contribute to developing IEC/BCC materials to aware the returnee community about the negative consequences of GBV and to encourage positive practices.
Participate in assessments to identify the protection need of women and girls in the project target areas.
Actively participate in coordination meetings and raise protection concerns of women and girls at the field level, if any.
Any other duties and responsibilities including field visits to other field offices that can be given by immediate and technical supervisors.
Education and Experience:
First degree with 2 years of experience in Social Work, Sociology, Public Health, Women’s Studies, or any other social science and related field. Or diploma with 5 years of experience. 1 year of relevant experience plus a post-graduate degree.
NGO experience in CP and GBV is a plus.
Experience in capacity building and mentoring.
Confirmed experience in developing competency-based training modules!
Good understanding of GBV- CP program approaches and practice.
Good communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills and flexibility.
Experience in working with harmed and at-risk children in an NGO working system.

Basic supervisory/managerial skills.
Technical and report writing skills.
Computer literate (ability to use MS office, word, excel, and outlook email applications very well).
Fluent in spoken and written English.
