Employment Term: 1 months and 15 days contract with possibility of extension

Job Summary
The psychologist will be based in Chinaksen woreda, East Hararghe zone,Oromia region..The overall responsibility is to directly or indirectly carry out prevention, management and/or research activities in the area of mental health and psychosocial support. S/he will be under the direct supervision of the Field Coordinator based in Chinaksen and for technical advice, s/he will consult with the MedCo.
Essential duties and responsibilities.
Reception and/or identification people experiencing mental health difficulties
Collection and analyse needs and requests for interventions
Provision of information on the options around psychological interventions and related approaches
Definition appropriate MHPSS activities
Preparation of the psychological report (collate information, interview, interpret, analyse and submit)
Planning support and carrying out follow-up activities and implementation of adjustments
Leading discussion groups and psychosocial activities
Identification support and referral structures
Possibly training of professionals or team representatives
Entering data and/or supervision entering data and updating monitoring tools
Preparation presentation and prevention tools and notes
Writing activity reports
Archiving reports

Work Experience
Skills and qualities required
Ability to assess people’s mental capacities.
Organise an individual or institutional therapeutic framework (adjusting treatment to patients and their environments)
Identify the individual’s family and social environment and identify mental capacities and vulnerabilities
Choose a psychological support method (including referral), suggest psychosocial support activities
Know how to work in a multidisciplinary team
Formalise and communicate professional know-how
Lead an individual, group and family psychotherapy session, guide people during exercises (role playing, relaxation, etc.)
Conduct and interpret personality and cognitive tests
Conduct psychological interviews
Draft and format clinical notes, documents and/or reports relating to the specialist area
Identify and present key messages in the specialist area
Know who health, social and medical-social actors are and understand related mechanisms
Understand clinical psychology and psychopathology, particularly in relation to the group in question.
Communicate (writing and speaking) in a foreign language
Languages
English and Oromifa language are mandatory (speaking and writing)
Somali language is a plus
