Job Description
The portfolio manager selects the mix of products, and categories, and monitors the long- and short-term portfolio strategy. The manager is responsible for the overall performance of the portfolio. They are also expected to explain portfolio investment decisions and strategies in meetings with stakeholders.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities
· Create and develop short-term and long-term development strategies for product portfolios that capture and maintain market share.
· Develop plans and priorities for the brand managers to ensure activities are focused on achieving department goals.
· Own product launches end-to-end from sourcing, go-to-market strategy, and execution to commercialization and develop an exit strategy for unsuccessful products.
· Review and monitor portfolio assortment performance and implement various action plans for improvement by conducting an in-depth analysis of product assortment, pricing, competitor analysis, and various other market information.
· Forecast new product demand and review product pricing to ensure they meet margin targets with healthy YoY growth.
· Monitor portfolio of brand investments and manage risk while aiming to generate the highest possible return and make changes as needed to keep the portfolio balanced and in line with the original strategy.
· Prepare monthly reports detailing the performance of the portfolio and make recommendations for changes.
· Manage and discuss with brand managers around brand KPI metric improvements, and their marketing goals and provide updates on the status of their portfolio.
· Develop an understanding of the product’s fully burdened cost to leverage improvements on margin and profitability.
· Analyze product performance, competitiveness, and trends in the marketplace to develop strategies that grow revenue and improve margins.
· Coordinate with Sales, finance, and operations on product forecasts, volume outlooks, and pricing; to meet revenue and profitability goals.
Required Education/Experience and Key Skills
· Minimum 8 years experience in portfolio management, business development management, category management, and brand management.
· MA Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Statistics, or a Business-related field is required.
· Ability to present ideas, collaborate effectively and influence at all levels of the organization.
· Courageous and strong execution excellence with a highly collaborative mindset to drive shared results.
· Ability to encourage open expression of ideas and seek opportunities for improvement.
· Track record of driving deliverables to conclusions and managing issues within a team.
· Ability to work with cross-functionality to achieve performance improvement objectives.
· A strategic thinker with good communication and presentation skills.
· High level of professionalism and a strong sense of accountability to work independently.
