Soufflet started its operation in Ethiopia in 2017 in the barley supply chain and commissioned its malt factory in Addis Ababa in April 2021.
Soufflet aims to source/buy 100% of its raw material locally which represents 80 000 tons per year.
Soufflet intends to hire a Warehouse Operations manager with solid experience in fast-moving consumer goods and commodities warehouse operations across the country.
Core Mission
The Warehouse Operation Manager is entrusted to oversee the overall warehouse operations conducted by the warehouse coordinator/s such as receiving, controlling, dispatching, and managing the stock of malt barley grain, seeds, and other agricultural inputs in the warehouse, and in this view, to establish and control collection centers in close consultation with the Agronomy Department Managers.
Major Responsibilities
Strategy: in support of the Procurement and Logistics and Agronomy Department:
Develops warehouse management strategies,
Taking the commercial targets and stock movement into consideration, propose the capacity of the warehouse needed
Gathers and communicates all relevant information on the stock and its movement.
Propose the necessary stock documents that may be needed to register stock movement
Warehouse management:
Oversee all warehouse and malt barley collection centers,
Ensure warehouse coordinator/s properly controls the malt barley stock against all kinds of damages,
Ensure warehouse coordinator/s properly manages the malt barley receipts and dispatch them to clients
Manages the commercial warehouse material receipt and issuance to clients
Key Activities:
Plan, organize, manage, and supervise overall operational activities of the warehouses located at Adama, Assela, Dodola, and Shashemene including other WHs planned to open in the future.
Ensure the implementation of the 5S methodology in all warehouses
Conduct planned and surprise visits in all warehouses and take remedial actions as per the findings.
Ensure an efficient warehouse operation is carried out which is able to fulfill operational and customer demands as per the company standard.
Manage and follow up on stocks and movements of goods stored in all warehouses.
Follow up on transfer, receiving and issuing documents, proper stacking of materials, update stock bin cards, management of rodents and pest control, fumigation planning, daily stock reconciliation, submittal of documents to the finance team, and procurement on time.
Liaise with the procurement team and transport companies to coordinate and organize the transportation of goods from origin to destination.
Ensure the provision of all the required daily reports of stock movement, any warehouse operational, security, and incidental reports to top management and concerned department/s.
Develops and implements effective warehouse layouts to secure smooth product flow and product handling systems.
Ensure warehouse coordinators/s maintain the traceability within the warehouse managing stacks according to grades of barley
In charge of the good conservation of the barley (placing rodent traps, managing the fumigation, controlling the germination, controlling warehouse leakages, etc.)
Establish and enforce the implementation of safety standards and procedures in compliance with a healthy work environment and legal requirements.
Responsible to facilitate formal and informal training and collaborating with the HR department to develop the capacity of the warehouse personnel to increase the performance of effectiveness and efficiency.
Ensure all the company safety guidelines and warehouse operational procedures have been implemented in all warehouse
Source and facilitate rental warehouses as per the required standard and location when necessary. Warehouse and weighbridge contract administration and management of contractual employees’ agreement (Loader, cleaners, and Guards) working at Soufflet warehouses.Property administration and control flow of material under commercial warehouse custody.Develops and implement strategies that will enable Soufflet to attain cost savings.
Ensure operational excellence, continuity of efficient operations of the warehouse management system and related good practices, and inventory is received and issued appropriately, efficiently, and safely processed in the warehouse.
Responsible for performance evaluation of warehouse staff as per the schedule of the HR department.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement & Materials Management, Management or equivalent.
Experience: at least 5 year’s operational experience in a variety of warehouse management roles. Preferably in the food and beverage sector.
Technical Skills:
Considerable knowledge of warehouse management practices and procedures
Considerable knowledge of relevant Soufflet/ET’s policy and procedures in relation to warehouse management
Considerable knowledge of monitoring and evaluation techniques
Excellent knowledge of quality control concepts
Good knowledge of overall warehouse handling concepts and methods
Ability to organize and direct a variety of activities
Ability to cope with current trends and developments in warehouse management
Innovative and creative approach to problem-solving
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Strong issue resolution skill
