About the Organization:
Ethiopian Midwives Association (EMwA) is a legally registered, autonomous, and not-for-profit professional association established in 1992 and re-registered under the new civil society proclamation. Ethiopian Midwives Association (EMwA) operates in all regions of Ethiopia by using and works for the quality of midwifery education and care. EMwA has been a member of the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) since 1993.
The primary goal of EMwA is to contribute towards the reduction of maternal and child mortality and morbidity in Ethiopia, which are the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) global initiatives. The vision of the association is to see every woman, newborn, and their family have access to standard midwifery care. The mission of the association is to promote and enhance the expansion, performance and status of midwifery profession through adapting quality and evidence-based practices; adhering to the code of ethics and conduct empowering the professionals.
Position summary:
The Continues Professional Development (CPD) Coordinator reports to the Membership & Resource Mobilization Manager and receives additional instruction from the Deputy Executive Director, is responsible for coordinating CPD activities. The job incumbent develops pilots, evaluates, and incorporates innovative models of CPD practice. S/he Coordinates and records evaluation of the impact of professional development program, after a suitable interval to enable EMwA and policy makers to implement ideas/approaches, and analyze the results, feeding these in to teaching institutions self-evaluation procedures and improvement planning.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team/system at national and regional levels using the midwifery process to integrate the midwifery perspective into a comprehensive plan of health care services and support for the patient/family at all health institutions.
Identifies, innovate and prioritizes midwifery care needs for a selected population of patients/families.
Conducts comprehensive, holistic wellness and illness MNCH assessments using established or innovative evidence-based techniques, tools, and methods with the concerned partners at national and regional levels.
Initiates and plans care conferences or programs.
Coordinate and record evaluation of the impact of professional development program, after a suitable interval to enable EMwA and policy makers to implement ideas/approaches, and analyze the results, feeding these in to teaching institutions self-evaluation procedures and improvement planning.
Identifies, collects, and analyzes data that serve as a basis for program design and Outcome measurement and take collective actions plan.
Establishes methods to evaluate and document midwifery interventions.
Evaluates the impact of midwifery interventions on fiscal and human resources.
Lead in all regional Midwives related documentation efforts for the project, including coordinating compilation of monthly/quarterly/annual reports.
Support and facilitate active use of CPD database at national /the regional office
Provide technical support on monthly and quarterly reports and other queries for program monitoring and evaluation as needed
Collaborates with others Partners to resolve issues related to CPD activities, Policies and resources
Creates and recommends revision of midwifery policies, protocols and procedures using evidence-based Information to achieve outcomes for indicators that are midwife -sensitive.
Leads quality improvement initiatives for a unit or a program.
Assists and support the staff in developing critical thinking and professional judgment.
Creates a midwifery care environment that stimulates continuous self-learning, Reflective practice, feeling of ownership and demonstration of responsibility and accountability.
Collaborates with Educational midwifery Specialists/staff, Educational midwifery Coordinators and others on content and operational design of orientation, clinical competency, and other clinical educational program development.
Mentors midwives to acquire new skills, develop their careers and effectively Incorporate evidence into practice
Provides formal and informal education for midwifes and other health professionals and health professional students.
Leads in the conduct and utilization of midwifery research Organization/System Leadership
Consults closely with other units/partners/ system and health care professionals to improve Midwifery care process.
Develops pilots, evaluates, and incorporates innovative models of CPD practice across the Nation.
Designs and evaluates programs and initiatives that are congruent with the organization's strategic plans, regulatory agency requirements, and midwifery Standards.
Participates in need identification, selection and evaluation of products and Equipment related to CPD activities.
Advances midwifery practice through participation in professional organizations, publications, and presentations
Conduct other activities as needed and ordered by the immediate supervisor;
Education:
MPH /MSC or BSc in Midwifery, Nursing, and Public Health, Health Education or other health related fields.
Experience:
4yrs/7yrs experience out of which 2/3 years in managing /coordinating health programs in NGO and familiarity with the Ethiopian health sector transformation plan
Proven experience in teaching at higher level educational institutions
Proven experience in training manual development.
Proven experience in program management or coordination with FMOH & RHBs.
Sufficient knowledge and experience of working in NGO section and MNCH area at National and /or International level.
Having experience in Reproductive Health Programs.

Desired Criteria (An Asset)
Experience in I/NGO environment is advantageous.
Being a Midwife or having Midwifery background is advantageous.
