JDC Ethiopia seeks to hire a well-organized, responsible and committed individual with high learning and communication skills to fill the position of Cashier Accountant.
What will you do as JDC Ethiopia Cashier Accountant?
Follow all of AJJDC policies, procedures, and donor compliance and documentation requirements.
Assist and participate in the Production of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
Production of accurate and timely monthly financial accounts and management reporting for local management and Group.
Keep a record of all cash, bank and advances on excel worksheet, update every day and reconcile daily.
Disburse or receive authorized cash or bank payments and receipts.
Ensure all required documents are attached; calculations are correct, and appropriate approvals and reviews made before payment of any check payments and bank transfers.
Match invoices/receipts with payment vouchers, GRN and other required documents.
Prepare cash, bank and advances reconciliations and submit for review/approval on monthly basis.
Ensure all income taxes, withholding taxes, VAT and other taxes are withheld and paid accordingly and timely.
Keep all financial documents and reports are properly filed, labeled and stored in a clear and easily accessible manner and contracts are properly filed in order to facilitate their retrieval and to safeguard JDC interest.
Record keeping and forwarding replenishment requests for procurement of JDC.
Handling petty cash and accounting for all expenditures of all projects.
Support payment to service providers, suppliers and contractors
Ensure that all documents relating to financial transactions and contracts are properly filed in order to facilitate their retrieval and safeguard JDC financial interest
Support adherence to JDC procurement regulation
Assist Budget and Finance Director in budgeting, monitoring, recording financial transactions and assisting with financial reporting.
Assist management and program staff in preparing annual program budgets based on quarterly and annual expenditure reviews
Report immediately on all cases of financial mismanagement, such as theft, corruption or non-adherence to AJJDC financial management rules; and, if necessary, coordinate and participate in developing new policies to safeguard against future mismanagement
Be adaptable and flexible to take on new tasks and new assignments as requested from time to time.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
3-5 years in an NGO environment
Reading and writing skills in English
Knowledge of Excel and accounting software (Peachtree and Quickbooks – preferred)
