Job Description
The Carter Center is a not-for-profit international NGO committed to waging peace, fighting disease and building hope worldwide. The Carter Center country office in Ethiopia, which assists the Government of Ethiopia in Disease Elimination and Eradication Programs, is looking for a qualified professional to fill the Warehouse Operations Officer for its Guinea Worm Eradication Program.
Main Responsibilities:
Store Management
1. Order, receive, stock, and issue consumables, reagents, tools, spare parts, and equipment.
2. Select proper storage areas and store supplies in bins, racks, shelves, floor or yard areas, and count and inspects materials for damage or defects.
3. Issues materials, supplies, tools, parts, and equipment; Obtains proper records when authorized and ensures item delivery to the specified site.
4. Enters and retrieves data and reports from a computerized inventory control system.
5. Tracks material usage and establishes reorder points; Reconciles order quantities with inventory records.
6. Keeps records of items shipped, received, or transferred to another location.
7. Maintains clean and orderly storage areas and shelves.
8. Maintains proper, complete, and accurate records with bin and stock cards; Ensures safekeeping, both as to quality and quantity of materials.
9. Initiates purchase requisitions for stock replacement of all regularly stored items whenever the stock level of any item approaches the minimum limit.
10. Uses first-in/first-out method; Places new supplies behind or under older supplies, so older supplies are used first.
11. Conducts spot checks of ten random items every week; Counts each item, checks bin card and stock card for each item, and reports findings to concerned supervisors.
12. Support and monitor the Sub-office stores located in Gog and Abobo.
Logistics
Assists the Regional Logistics officer to:
13. Prepare and compile Monthly logbook reports, fuel consumption analysis and spare part requests under his assigned Sub-region.
14. Make sure old/changed vehicle spare parts are returned to the office and checked with the logistic department.
15. Ensure that the vehicle has an up-to-date insurance cover.
16. Carry out any assignment given to him/her by the supervisor.
Required Number: 1 (One)
Terms of Employment: one-year contract with strong possibility of extension
Qualification and Experience:
BA Degree in Logistics & Supply Chain Management, or related fields.
Minimum 5 years’ relevant expereince
Additional requirements:
• Knowledge and understanding of logistics and general service concepts, practices systems, procedures, and working experiences in the area.
• Skills and experience in using warehouse tools such as bin cards, stock cards, and regular reconciliation of physical stock with the record and reporting of status.
• Well organized and keeping the store clean.
• Working experience and familiarity with store operating procedures and general rules.
• Computer literate, clean record-keeping ability, and data entry.
• Strong personal attributes such as Integrity and honesty
• Able to speak the local language of the area is highly advantage
• Prior work experience Gambella region or similar hardship areas
