• Ensures that all mechanical maintenance activities on site are compliant with the standard codes, relevant EHS & food safety site rules,  

• As a supervisor, leading by example to drive the safety culture and will promote an open and proactive approach to safety on site.

• Respect the company's safety policies and create a safe working environment for the team and all cross functional departments; ensure plant operations are carried out in accordance with Boortmalt’s safety rules and regulations; enforce the use of PPE in the workplace; ensure implementation of various safety standards and systems through active participation and take disciplinary measures as needed (safety tags, near miss reporting, unsafe act reporting,  ..).

• Ensure waste reduction and housekeeping culture during maintenance activities and in engineering workshop and utility areas.

 BOPEX (Operational Excellence)

• Works very closely with the Technic Manager to develop maintenance KPI’s and OPI’s for the mechanical maintenance team and utility operators.

• Uses this data to make informed decisions for mechanical & industrial process improvements.

• Maintains and organises comprehensive suites of data to enable fact-based decisions to be made.

• Applies CI techniques to identify areas for improvement for the site and to optimise operational performance in line with the site team – quality, cycle times, costs etc. 

 Quality & Service

• Oversee and be responsible for the overall execution of planned and unplanned maintenance of various plants (Utilities, Maltings, Malt Silos & Bagging, Barley cleaning & drying), optimizing plant efficiency, and preparing maintenance budget; supervise and execute all planned and preventive maintenance tasks to increase machine availability and reduce downtimes, and continuously follow up and monitor conditions of various machines to ensure efficient production processes.

• Carry out effective root cause analysis (RCFA) to identify and avoid root causes of problems; examine process equipment performance to detect and locate malfunctions and inefficiencies; provide technical support and operational solutions for maximum reliability and utilization of various plants and sustain production.

• Train, lead, support, and manage the mechanical maintenance staff and utility operators to ensure that maintenance is performed in a professional manner and that maintenance errors are prevented.

• Support and supervise corrective maintenance in all machines and process areas, optimize the operation of the utilities through evaluation, troubleshooting support, and knowledge transfer, follow up calibration activities by consulting the Technic Manager, evaluate shift technicians' and operators’ performance in terms of mechanical and industrial process issues and efficient operation of the utilities, respectively.

• Support inventory requirements for mechanical & electromechanical systems

• Perform breakdown analysis (BDA) in cooperation with electrical supervisor

• Should be willing to travel to site in all the shifts to support shift crews in case of emergencies

• Actively participate in the improvement roll out plan like water and Energy, BD reductions, speed lose and minor stop and contribute for the asset care & maintenance management improvement team

• Contribute to the implementation of Company strategic programs (i.e., computerised maintenance management system using MAXIMO)

•  Ensure and facilitate implementation of Company systems (EnMS,EMS,HACCP, Calibrations)

• Conduct quality assurance checks on all contractors to ensure standard procedures and regulations are followed in related to the mechanical side of the job.

• Assist in designing mechanical systems, as well as contributing to improved designs and manufacturing processes and contribute highly on schematics and cost estimates

• Responsible in keeping the mechanical, electromechanical & industrial system up to date

• Implement and use SOP's to drive sustainability. Initiate, motivate and ensure the execution of modifications (projects), and evaluate the results obtained  and implement cost reduction strategies.

• Oversee and organize the maintenance team by providing  the required workshop and facility support for optimal execution of maintenance tasks, ensure availability of standardized central equipment facilities (Scaffolding, Pulleys, hydraulic press, specialized cutting and drilling machines, ..etc ) for use as requested and whenever demanded and thereby contribute to the repairs success rate of taken out machinery components and parts; and there by deliver higher repairs benefit over replacements through repair - replace analysis.

• Support the Technic Manager in preparing the department budget, in terms of materials, human resources, third parties, overhauls, and monitor actual versus planned results and take effective measures in case of deviations.

• Ensure plant is operated according to the suppliers’ instructions and manuals

• Monitoring and taking control of Tags & Work Orders; monitor assets performance and plant availability (uptime); take the lead and contributes to autonomous maintenance (AM) support together with the production, blending & utilities team in consultation with the technic manager.   Defines critical Spare parts and availability for breakdown and planned maintenance in cooperation with the electrical superviosr; collects and manages asset drawings and documents.

• Performs loss & cost maintenance deployments to shop floor level and assess current equipment condition and develops restoration plan to eliminate sporadic loss; implements systematic breakdown analysis and reduction system (BDA); monitors impact of PM activities (MTTR, MTBF, MTTF, etc..) and supports countermeasures to improve preventive maintenance (PM) and autonomous maintenance (AM) roll-out.

Job Qualification:

Experience:

• Minimum 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing industry within a technical function, out of which 1 years worked as a mechanical maintenance supervisor or related position.

•  A background from the malting, brewing or similar related industry is preferred.  Other manufacturing backgrounds such as food, pharmaceutical manufacture or similar related industries should be able to demonstrate skills required in the role. Able to handle multiple projects and modification works under deadline

•  Played a leading role in developing Continuous Improvement in an organization –Six Sigma Black Belt is advantageous.

Language / IT:

• Fluent English.

• Competent in the use of MS Office – especially manipulating data in excel
