Background:
John Snow, Inc. (JSI) is a public health management firm, headquartered in the United States, dedicated to improving the health of individuals and communities throughout the world. JSI has been implementing public health work in Ethiopia for over 25 years.
JSI is implementing the five-year Digital Health Activity in Ethiopia, which is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The purpose of this Activity is to support the Government of Ethiopia (GOE) to improve the quality of health services and create a sustainable health care system through the use of data for decision making, as well as to provide similar services to other countries in Africa or to respond to a crisis in Ethiopia (as needed). The primary objectives of the Activity are to 1) support information technology systems and data repository at all levels; 2) build a culture of data use; and 3) improve capacity and governance of MOH health information systems management.
We are looking for The COVID-19 vaccine program advisor, The COVID-19 vaccine program advisor is an embedded position within the Ministry of Health to support the data and digital health needs of the COVID-19 vaccine management team. He/she is expected to analyze data generated by various digital tools and disseminate the evidence within the MOH and other COVID-19 vaccine program stakeholders. The position holder is responsible for liaising DHA’s work with MOH and representing DHA in the various COVID-19 vaccine and related technical working groups. He/she is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of activities and compliance with JSI policies and regulations.
Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities of the COVID-19 vaccine program advisor will include, but is not limited to the following:
● Support the COVID-19 Vaccine roll out data flow systems, data compilation, analysis and use for action
● Work with the data use and program teams of DHA to produce and disseminate data insights about the management of COVID-19 vaccine program in Ethiopia
● Support national COVID-19 vaccination campaign while embedded in the Ministry of Health with a focus on data collection, analysis, and dissemination
● Support micro plan preparation for target groups of Covid19 vaccination
● Engage in the existing national Technical Working Groups (TWGs) for COVID-19 vaccine management and ensure discussions are based on data
● Represent and promote DHA’s support in COVID-19 vaccine management meetings
● Facilitate review, advocacy and experience sharing meetings.
● Support MOH in documentation of lesson learned from COVID 19 vaccine roll out
● Participate in periodic covid-19 vaccine roll out update meetings with MOH and others
● Perform other related work activities as needed
Qualifications:
Applicants for this position should possess the following qualifications:
● Advanced degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Medicine or related field.
● At least seven years’ experience in public health, preferably with experience in donor-funded activities
● Expertise in EPI program management
● Experience with COVID-19 response
● Experience working with Ministry of Health and health system strengthening
● Experience working with digital health tools and analyzing and presenting data
