Job Summary

The Barista will prepare and serve specialty coffee, other beverages, and select food items to patrons.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Monitor the staff in the café.

• Managing the café with all given SOP’s.

• Responsible to take care of the current inventory and maintain power-level stock for daily business.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Prepares and serves hot and cold beverages, such as coffee, blended coffee, and tea, to patrons; correctly customizes orders as requested;

• Describes product details to customers, if needed;

• Serves prepared menu items as per the availability;

• Ensures customer service stations are properly stocked with all the required stock to run smooth operations;

• Cleans and sanitizes all equipment, and utensils, in a work area;

• Ensures proper functioning of freezers, refrigerators, and heating by routinely checking temperatures in that equipment;

• Stocks supplies or retail products; may inventory, order, or receive products as directed;

• Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Job Requirements

Education and Experience:

• Grade 12 complete and diploma in hotel management;

• at least 1 year of  relevant experience;

• Must successfully complete training in food preparation, food service skills, and customer service procedures.

• Good understanding of the coffee and coffee making as well as coffee machine handling experience, different coffee recipe, cafe/restaurant experience, service knowledge;

• experience in Turkish coffee roasting machines and experience in serving specialty coffee is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds/7.5 kilogram at times.

• Must be available to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

• Ability to follow all safe food handling procedures and sanitation practices;

• A good memory to manage multiple orders simultaneously and recall faces, names, and preferences of frequent patrons;

• Ability to serve customers quickly, efficiently, and kindly.
