A Waiter/Waitress is a professional who works in restaurants, bars, hotels, and other food & beverage serving. They ensure guests have an excellent dining experience by providing stellar customer service. They greet guests, take meal orders, and ensure smooth communication between the dining area and kitchen. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Providing excellent wait service to ensure satisfaction;

• Greet and escort customers to their tables;

• Presenting the menu and provide the detailed information on customer’s queries;

• Taking customer orders and delivering food and beverages

• Making menu recommendations, answering questions, and sharing additional information with restaurant patrons;

• Up-sell additional products when appropriate;

• Take accurate food and drinks orders, using a POS ordering software, order taking pads;

• Check dishes and kitchenware for cleanliness and presentation, report any problems;

• Arrange table settings and maintain a tidy dining area.

• Deliver checks and collect bill payments;

• Carry dirty plates, glasses and silverware to kitchen for cleaning;

• Meet with restaurant staff to review daily specials; changes on the menu and service specifications;

• Follow all relevant health department regulations;

• Provide excellent customer service to every guest.

Job Requirements

• above 10th grade;

• undertaken trainings in hotel management, customer; service management or related area is prefered;

• ability to communicate fluently in Amharic and English;

• Minimum 1 year experience as server/waiter/waitresses in cafe or restaurant;

• Must be available to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Proven work experience as Waiter/ Waitress;

• Attentiveness and patience for customers;

• Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment;

• Active listening and effective communication skills;

• Team spirit;

• Flexibility to work in shifts;

• Good memory to manage multiple orders simultaneously and recall faces, names, and preferences of frequent patrons;

• Ability to serve customers quickly, efficiently, and kindly.
