German Leprosy and TB Relief Association Ethiopia (GLRA-Ethiopia) is a non-profit international NGO working in the field of TB, Leprosy and other NTDs as well as on Humanitarian aid , Socio-economic rehabilitation and research. In line with this mandate GLRA has planned to coordinate the implementation of a project entitled “Unlocking the Potential of Leprosy & NTD affected people, to pursue Inclusive, Fulfilling and Transformational lives through a harmonized Community Based Group model (UPLIFT)”: The main objective of the project is to identify an evidence-based, impactful and sustainable model for community based intervention with people affected by leprosy, LF and other skin NTDs through a defined an operational, harmonized and scalable model for community-based groups (CBG) across different settings in Ethiopia, India and Bangladesh. The Ethiopian project sites will be West Arsi, West Hararge, Jima and Ilubabor zones. To implement this project GLRA is looking one competent candidate .
Purpose of the Job:
The main purpose of the job is to coordinate field research activities that include community engagement, organizing training, net working with relevant stockholders, data collection, reporting and related tasks.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans, organizes, coordinates and participates in the overall activities of the UPLIFT project, which will be implemented in West Arsi, West Hararge, Jima and Ilubabor zones
Works in close collaboration with West Arsi, West Hararge, Jima and Ilubabor zones and woredas women and social affairs, health department /offices, health facility staff, health extension workers, leprosy association, the UPLIFT task force at woreda level and other stakeholders.
Keeps networking/interacting with relevant stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of the project
Establish and follow proper function of Local Advisory Committees (LACs) at each project area/location
Participates in the identification and selection of block coordinators / HSWA, MH Facilitators / Mental health volunteer and M&E Officers
Organizes and facilitates training of health providers, Mental Health (MH) facilitators / MH Volunteers in collaboration with the research team (PI and CIs) and prepares/submits related training reports
Oversees the activities undertaken by block Coordinators / HSWA, MH Facilitators / MHV and M&E Officers
Organizes and facilitates national consultation panels
Identifies/facilitates the supply of all necessary logistics for the implementation of UPLIFT project in collaboration with the research team and GLRA Ethiopia management team
Coordinates and actively participates in baseline study (data collection) and endline evaluation
Support identifying the project implementation gaps timely, develops corrective actions and intervenes accordingly by working with the project teams.
Coordinating the formation of CBGs based on the research protocol.
Recruiting CBG participants and working to sustain their retention in the study.
Collecting and validating high-quality data from the field (completeness, accuracy & timeliness) and submitting reports on project activities on time per the set standard
Follows the proper utilization of UPLIFT project resources
Regularly monitors/supervises the project implementation sites in collaboration with project stockholders
Compiles, analyzes and reports lessons learned challenges & gaps encountered with the corrective actions taken & recommendations.
Undertakes any other tasks/duties as directed by the employer.
Required Number: one
Duty Station: Addis Ababa with frequent field travel to the implementation sites
Employment type: Fixed term for 24 months
Salary: Based approved project budget
Qualification:
Sociology/social work or health science related background
BA /BSc in Sociology/social work or Health related field with 5 years work experience
Master degree in Sociology/social work or Health related field with 2 years’ work experience
Experience in conducting and coordinating field work related to Health and social researches
Knowledge of local language of the project area
High competency in English
Excellent interpersonal communication skill
