Position Title: Director, Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Program

Department: RISE

Duration of contract: Indefinite based on performance and availability of funds.

We market condoms and increase condom use among people most at risk of HIV.  We increase access to clean water by selling Wuha Agar, a water disinfectant. Purpose of the Job:

To drive increased demand for sexual and reproductive health for Adolescent youth and women of reproductive age by providing technical and operational leadership for PSI/E’s SRH initiative towards national and global commitments.

  • Stakeholder engagement and communication (e.g., quality of communications; engagements with government, donors and other stakeholders; stakeholder support for program implementation)

  • Program delivery

  • Fund raising and financial management.

  • Program management (e.g., program costs, timeliness, budget management)

  • Operational effectiveness and continuous improvement

  • Monitoring, evaluation, and reporting (Quality of historical data and rigor of analysis)

  • Talent development and capability building (e.g., technical capability and expertise availability)

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and lead country-level implementation plan, ensuring timely completion of project milestones and overall quality of the program.

  • Lead program budget, track spending, and complete financial and other reporting as required by donors and PSI/Washington.

  • Employ user centered design (UCD) and a mix of communication activities to create and increase demand for SRH services for the target population and specifically among adolescent and Youth. .

  • Provide technical (clinical and non-clinical) leadership on the provision of SRH services and ensure programs adhere to current national and internationally accepted health service delivery norms and standards.  

  • Build and implement a strategic advocacy, engagement and communication plan to form good working relations with partners, donors and other relevant stakeholders.

  • Lead coordination and collaboration with MOH, RHBs, and health facilities; serve as prime contact in relation to technical matters related to SRH program; and represent the program with donors and other partners and stakeholders.

  • Develop and implement strong performance monitoring plan (PMP), M&E tools and registration templates. 

  • Strengthen the capacity of health facilities and enable them to offer the services related to SRH

  • Co-lead best practice and strategy on UCD for PSI Ethiopia to become center of excellence; promote best practice documentation, adoption and sharing in the design and implementation of the program.

  • Advocate for policy changes to reduce barriers to access and use of quality SRH service for Adolescent, youth, women, and couples.

  • Actively coordinate and lead the design, production, and dissemination of the formative research of the organization around SRH.

  • Explore opportunities and build strategic network to expand SRH program within the organization.

  • Lead the standardization, coordination, and leadership support in implementing SRH initiatives within the program.

  • Lead and drive quality assurance monitoring and supportive supervision of program activities.

Generic Duties of the Position:

  • Prepare the Function’s work plans and monitor their execution.

  • Monitor and ensure the proper utilization of the Function’s budgets.

  • Identify human resources requirements of the Function and develop plan for meeting the requirements.

  • Develop policies and procedures for the Function and lead in their implementation and continuous review.

  • Engage and participate PSI Ethiopia leader team

  • Review, approve and submit Function reports to relevant organs.

  • Support the development of subordinates through periodic performance evaluations, coaching, mentoring, on-going performance dialogue and feedback. 

  • Oversee the systematic identification of skill and competency requirements for the Function.

  • Manage disciplinary concerns of the Function’s staff.

  • Represent the Organization in external relationships related with the Function.

  • Take part in the group decision making processes by forming part of different groups/committees 

Job Requirements

Qualification and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Clinical Studies, Population studies or related fields with eight (8) years of demonstrated experience out of which six (6) years at a Managerial level

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Clinical Studies, or related fields with ten (10) years of demonstrated experience out of which six (6) years at Managerial level

  • Demonstrated experience in voluntary family planning, reproductive health projects, particularly service delivery projects targeted to adolescent and youth, in high level project management, and in building the capacity of in-country platforms and organizations to improve SRH projects

  • Preferable to have: familiarity with unique and rare skill and capacity required to have Adolescent, youth and gender centered approaches to reproductive health interventions; experience working within MOH or regional level or Zonal level

  • Proficient in English language, both written and verbal communication
