About Roha Medical Campus

Roha Medical Campus PLC (RMC) is building an integrated health campus in Addis Ababa. When complete, it will provide world- class, high-quality, affordable healthcare across multiple hospitals and facilities. The campus will include a medical school and facilities for research and innovation. It will be set in a lush, green setting, built to the highest sustainability standards, and with a beautiful urban park open to the public. Development of the campus has begun, and the first hospital is already under construction.

Location: This role is based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Timing: March 2023

Reporting: This position reports to VP of Strategy and Clinical Development.

Remuneration: Salary is competitive and will depend on applicant’s background and experience.

About the role

Roha is seeking a Hospital Supply Chain and Logistics Manager to support RMC and the operations team in the successful launch of the Roha Medical Campus hospital operation in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This role will lead and support the supply chain planning and management by the operator.

Responsibilities include:

• Manage the overall supply chain and logistics of medical equipment, consumables, supplies and pharmaceuticals.

• Coordinate team members to develop and implement sourcing initiatives that deliver savings across assigned categories (medical equipment, consumables, supplies and pharmaceuticals).

• Ensure the supply chain process meets the company’s ethics and legal requirements and standards.

• Support the operator on supply chain planning.

• Integrate local context in the planning of hospital equipment and supplies.

• Bring local context to forecasting procurement and selection of vendors.

• Ensure the critical processes run effectively to avoid supply gaps and unnecessary spending.

• Provide overall planning and implementation support for sourcing and procurement management strategies.

• Assist in the development, recommendation, and approval of budget for supplies, medical equipment and pharmaceuticals.

• Manage resources according to approved budget when applicable.

• In collaboration with project management team, plan and manage all contracts and related activities associated with the procurement of goods and services.

• Take on other related tasks and responsibilities as needed to ensure the overall company success.

About the candidate

Successful applicants have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, strong and effective leadership skills, organizational skills with ability to track goal achievement, ability to manage a budget, are flexible and imaginative, are high-energy, persistent, self-starters, are good communicators in writing and verbally, and have a proven track record of delivering on complex projects in challenging environments. Applicants could demonstrate this by having:

• BSc. degree in Pharmacy or health related field with 10 to 15 years work experience in a role that covers supply chain management, logistics and contract management for hospital or healthcare projects or operations.

• BA degree in Logistics and Supply Chain management or other relevant field with 10 to 15 years work experience in a role that covers medical equipment, consumables, supplies and pharmaceuticals supply chain management, logistics and contract management for hospital or healthcare.

• Previous experience leading healthcare related purchasing function.

• Previous experience leading an import function.

• Strong understanding of local and international logistics, and incoterms.

• Strong understanding of local and international construction contracts.

• Strong understanding of local and international sourcing, procurement, and customs regulations.

• Experience in managerial position in medical and pharmaceutical industries is a plus.

• English and Amharic fluency is a must.
