Job Description
Will conduct community mobilization and awareness-raising campaigns at kebele or village level during the implementation of the project's activities.
Facilitate and closely follow up the selection of emergency committees and beneficiary households as per the selection criteria set.
Ensure the timely documentation of the individual beneficiary households’ profile.
Actively participate in the private veterinary systems assessment in selected project intervention woredas.
Facilitate & follow-up the loading and unloading, safe storage, distribution and transportation of veterinary inputs as per the project work plan.
Interact regularly with targeted beneficiaries to introduce and explain each projects' objectives, mobilizing community participation and ensuring it conforms to work schedules and provide mentorship for community activities regarding interventions being implemented ·
Carry out community/project beneficiaries training to create/raise awareness and build their capacity to run implemented projects.
Works closely with local government line departments, kebele administration and the project team, and give feedback to the targeted beneficiaries.
Ensure that the communities are continuously involved and kept up to date with project developments.
Gather and collate monitoring data and report on findings from field monitoring activities.
Execute any other task assigned by the field officers and area coordinators of VSF-Suisse.
Diploma in rural community development, animal health, animal science, social work/community development, and livelihood (BSc/BA will be a plus)
Experience and understanding of NGOs’ working environment and culture.
Knowledge and understanding of the Borana zone context of Oromia region lowlands, pastoral livelihoods, culture and customary institutions,
Experience in the use of participatory methodologies such PRA, FGD, KII etc.
Experience in community training, advocacy for change, and inspiring community economic empowerment.
Computer literate
Team player and cultural sensitivity
Fluency in English and the Afan Oromo is a must; knowledge of other local languages is a plus.
