Key roles and responsibilities

• Monitoring the implementation of laws, guidelines and regulations issued at the country level and institution level by the organization and providing the necessary professional assistance.

• Appearing and defending the company in court on behalf of the company, and conducting legal monitoring and reporting the final decision.

• Ensuring the confidentiality of legal information in the organization

• Provides legal advice and representation on legal matters while exercising professional judgement. 

• Conducts case files/provides advice in the General Law Unit, working under the supervision of allocated legal officers as appropriate. 

•  Provides General Law Unit legal query services as required. 

•  Maintains accurate file records of all activities. 

•  Demonstrates a good level of professional skill and judgment. 

•  Seeks professional supervision and assistance as needed. 

•  Prepares briefs and conducts civil claims in-house as directed. 

•  Ensures instructions are obtained as needed for the progress of civil claims. 

•  Maintains professional etiquette and professional conduct at all times in dealings with instructors, legal practitioners and other stakeholders.

• Undertakes legal research and prepares legal opinions. 

• Maintains effective and cooperative working relationships and a cooperative environment with other staff in the Division.

•  Professional liaison 

• Contributes and provides accurate input to the development of training materials. 

• Prepares and presents professional training materials to Department staff. 

• Prepares and gives advice on legal issues and documentation in a timely and effective manner.

• Attends meetings and other activities as directed.

• Undertakes any other works to be given by department head 

Grade: 12

Permanent upon successful completion of probation period.

Benefits: health coverage, monthly Transport allowance of 2,000.00 birrs, monthly housing allowance    of 1,500.00 birr (for Addis Ababa) & health coverage, monthly Transport allowance of 1,6000.00 birrs, monthly housing allowance  of 1,500.00 birr (for Bahir Dar)

• Bachelor's degree in Law.

• Minimum of 4 years' of relevant experience.

• Well Knowledge of Ethiopia’s law and practice.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.

• Must be efficient and have the ability to multi-task with an assertive, independent, and can-do attitude.
