Wine making has been a part of the Ethiopian culture for more than a millennium, dating back to the Axumite era. Although this traditional method has survived all that time, the methods, quality, and variety stayed the same. In 1943 GC (1936 Ethiopian Calendar), a Greek family started the first winery in Ethiopia around followed by an Italian family who established their winery at Mekanisa. The two ventures where nationalized in 1973 and regrouped in one entity that was named Awash Wine. Since that time, we have grown to be one of the country’s most loved brands-a market leader that is interwoven with the cultural fabric of the county.

Job Summary

The Commercial Business Controller is responsible for supporting commercial operation with business planning and forecast, financial insights and performance management.And play key role in achieving business objectives, driving, supporting and driving the cross functional agenda in the finance and commercial functions.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible support for Sales and Distribution function and operation.

  • Support Corporate leadership team in providing relevant insights for decision process.

  • Lead and coordinate the preparation of the strategic plan and annual plan for the commerce function

  • Prepare monthly commercial business performance report and explanations on performance variations. (incl. preparation of functional P&L vs LY vs Budget by SKU, Brand, Customer, region/territory per litter & HL; through functional gross profit).

  • Provide insight on top line performance (Revenue management), volume, price mix effect report, analysis.

  • Make sure that Marketing, sales and distribution processes and controls are effective and efficient.

  • Ensure all procedures are compliant and updated.

  • Make sure that gaps identified by audit or process review, are acted up on.

  • Overlook the whole sales and distribution investment and marketing Capex

  • Preparation of Commerce weekly foretasted volume and estimated cash flow (revenue, expenses and capex)

  • Perform account receivable reconciliation with customers and drive credit collection

  • Issue real time customer statement

  • perform the analysis of Empty usage (purchase, sales, inventory, breakage,)

  • Prepare business case to providing insight on the Empty Investment decision and coordinate empty collection from outlets and agents in the best structured way.

  • Manage and control over commercial spent.

  • Member of Credit Committee; Price & excise Committee, monitor the sales process.

  • Check and validate Purchase Orders and commitments for the sales and distribution costs before approval and engagement.

  • Make sure that Commerce function is supported with the preparation of business case, analysis and provide insightful recommendation on new pricing, incentives, bonus, discounts, free goods, activation's, events, promotions, ...

  • Make sure that there is proper documentation and procedure in place for all sales and distribution investment and costs (free issue, promotional product incentive, discounts and sponsor ship).

  • Make sure that proper activation plan and relevant analysis is conducted for all events and activation's.

  • Overlook the Commercial Finance Analyst activities

  • Coach and support team as well as Corporate Finance in the period end closing process.

Job Requirements

Education  

University degree/master’s in economics, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration

Experience

8 - 12 years of experience

  • Experience in the area of Finance, Commercial Finance

  • Experience in organizing and leading cross-functional teams of individuals and leading team.

  • Experience in strategic planning, annual planning and roll forecast, performance management and reporting

  • Strong quantitative, statistical and computer skills, with emphasis on the ability to perform sophisticated analysis with spreadsheet and/or database applications
