About Roha Medical Campus PLC
Roha Medical Campus PLC (RMC) is building an integrated health campus in Addis Ababa. When complete, it will provide world-class, high-quality, affordable healthcare across multiple hospitals and facilities. The campus will include a medical school and facilities for research and innovation. It will be set in a lush, green setting, built to the highest sustainability standards, and with a beautiful urban park open to the public. Development of the campus has begun and the first hospital is already under construction.
About the role
Roha is seeking Health and Safety Officer to support the project management team in the successful completion of multiple construction projects and related activities in the development of Raha Medical Campus in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Develop and implement health and safety policies, standards, and preventative measures.
Monitor work processes and procedures to identify unsafe practices or breaches of safety regulations.
Promote a health and safety culture within the company.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local and international health and safety regulations.
Conduct weekly, and monthly safety audits and inspections.
Organize safety training for site staff on necessary safety principles.
Carry out investigations to identify the root cause of an incident or other unsafe conditions on a work site.
Review the contractor’s method statement and risk analysis.
Prepare a periodic report of safety operations for management.
Work with management and investigators to address cases of workplace incidents.
Conduct risk assessments to identify work areas with high risk of hazard.
About the candidate
Successful applicants have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, think at a superior intellectual level, are flexible and imaginative, are high-energy, persistent, self-starters, are good communicators in writing and verbally, and will preferably have a proven track record of delivering on complex projects in challenging environments.
Applicants could demonstrate this by having:
5 years’ experience as a Health and Safety Officer on a large scale industrial or commercial project.
Bachelor’s degree in risk management, engineering, safety management, other related discipline.
International Health and Safety qualifications or certification is an advantage.
Strong understanding of local and international construction contracts like FIDIC;
Experience in healthcare projects or operations is a plus;
Excellent and effective communicator, both oral and written, with internal and external stakeholders; • English and Amharic fluency is a must;
Experience working in Ethiopia is a must;
