The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) wants to recruit employees in the following vacant positions the details of which are mentioned below.
About the Ethiopian Red Cross Society
The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) was established in 1935 and is one of the oldest and largest humanitarian organizations in Ethiopia. ERCS provides services to communities affected by natural and manmade disasters through the provision of emergency responses, ambulance and first aid, family reunification, essential drugs, water and sanitation, and other humanitarian services. ERCS also runs disaster risk reduction programs with the aim of creating resilience households and communities. Currently the ERCS has a structure consisting of 12 Regional Offices, 34 Zonal Branches and 131 District/Woreda Branches, 599 Woreda Red Cross Committee and 5871 Kebele Red Cross committees.
ERCS also runs disaster risk reduction programs relating to food security, climate change adaptation, livelihood diversification, and institutional capacity building interventions, with the aim of creating resilience households and communities. ERCS works in partnership with the Ethiopian Government, International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC), International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), partnering National Societies, members, volunteers and the communities we serve.
Key performance Areas
Assigns to work and monitors work done of messengers, cleaners, gardener as well as the outsourced guarding staff of the Society;
Supervises cleaners in the cleaning of offices and other premises;
Supervises gardening, compound cleaning as well as the maintenance and keeping inventory of long-term assets;
Administer and maintains canteen, and other recreation facilities;
Provides working clothes and protective equipment to entitled workers;
Ensure timely procurement of janitorial supplies, office supplies, uniforms and overalls for entitled employees and general service tools and accessories;
Plans, supervises and coordinates the timely maintenance and repair of buildings, water and heat systems, toilets, sewerage pipes, and office equipment such as computer, printers, scanner, fax machines, photocopiers, furniture and other facilities;
Requests cleaning supplies and issues same to cleaners;
Replaces light bulbs and fuses and makes minor repairs to installed equipment;
Settles bills of electricity, water, telephone services and internet etc.. in due course;
Supervises the cleaning of office furniture, toilets and fixtures and replenishes necessary supplies;
Maintains simple records and prepares required reports relating to the supply and utilization of cleaning materials, equipment and work performed;
Ensures that adequate number of guards are assigned on a shift basis with adequate facilities and that the guards are effectively providing security services to the Society;
Conducts performance appraisal on subordinate staff;
Work Unit: Human Resources, General Services and Property Administration
Reports to: General Service and Property Administration Manager
Terms of employment: - Contract for one year
Qualification Requirements:
First degree /college diploma/TVET level III /IV/V in mechanical engineering, general mechanics.
6 years related work experience, out of which 2 years in a senior position(s)
