Position Title Senior Programme Assistant- Information Management

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is the UN Migration Agency with 174 Member States. IOM works closely with governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental partners in the field of migration. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
Under the overall supervision of the Senior Programme Support Unit Coordinator and direct supervision of the National Programme Support Officer-MEAL; the successful candidate will support IOM in Ethiopia in their information management needs. S/he will be responsible for maintaining, updating and developing information related to the portfolio of IOM’s work in Ethiopia, in close collaboration with team members from other units and specifically support the National Programme Support Officer-MEAL to produce and update geo-referenced data analysis, mapping, database, and other relevant information products.
Collate, analyze and share summarized project and programme updates to improve internal controls and enhance the efficiency and quality of the Mission’s programme implementation.
Maintain Mission’s information platforms, databases, dashboards, and websites with relevant and up-to-date information.
Support in maintaining incidents and other databases as necessary.
Respond to complex information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.
Support programme support team in preparing annual reports, work plans, financial expenditure reports etc.
Support in networking with various programme units and partners to gather, maintain and produce wide range of information products.
Assist in design, development, and maintenance of databases.
Assist MEAL team in designing and developing database management systems, monitoring tools and data collection tools/templates
Develop and maintain various databases such as 5W/4W, Security Incidents, Daily Reports as required.
Promote Data Readiness and Common Data Repository.
Coordinating and facilitating capacity building activities for IOM and partners staff to improving understanding of data gathering and analysis.
Organize meetings, workshops and training sessions; prepare training materials and participate in the delivering of capacity building workshops.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education
Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Information Science and Management, Computer Science, Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution
Experience
Desirable of six or a minimum of four years of relevant professional experience for BA degree holders
Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
Database and web design and management, data visualization using PowerBI and other tools, familiarity with software such as MS Access, Excel, SQL
Good knowledge of GIS systems and supporting software (ESRI ArcMap10.2),
Languages
Fluency in English and French (oral and written).
Knowledge of Arabic, Amharic and other local languages
Skills
In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization; and,
Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming.
Knowledge of financial rules and regulations.
