Initiative Africa (IA) has been working with national and international partners across Ethiopia on various development, peace, and civic projects. In line with the priorities of the government, IA has increasingly been trying to use capacity development approaches that foster resilience in government and society – resilience to crises in livelihood, good governance, gender, and peace. In view of expanding its reach and activities, IA is looking to engage a proactive and knowledgeable resource mobilization lead.
Job Purpose:
The Resources and Grant Mobilization Lead will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to mobilize financial resources, including grants and donations, to support the programs and operations of Initiative Africa. The position will identify, cultivate, and leverage partnerships with grant-making institutions to increase funding, identify new grant opportunities, lead the grant proposal development process, and manage grants from concept development to closeout. The position will also provide support for resource mobilization activities such as fundraising events, campaigns, donor stewardship, and prospecting new donors.
Develop and implement an annual resource mobilization plan in collaboration with other departments to achieve organizational financial goals;
Research, identify, evaluate and recommend grant opportunities from public and private sector entities, and international organizations;
Coordinate and lead the preparation of high-quality grant proposals in cooperation with other program leads including finance, research and evaluation by collecting necessary data and working with team members as needed;
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, donors, and partners
Build relationships with donors and funding agencies to ensure their continued support by initiating communication about programs and other initiatives underway;
Develop and implement a resource mobilization strategy that aligns with the organization's goals and objectives; work with teams throughout fund development functions;
Develop and maintain accurate records of proposals, awards, and other fundraising-related activities
Prepare and deliver presentations to donors and stakeholders to promote the organization's mission and goals;
Participate in organizational assessment and improvement initiatives, for example, by providing inputs to governance/strategy reviews.
Qualifications and skills:
Bachelor's degree in International Development, Social Sciences, or another related field
Minimum 5 years of experience working in grant management, fundraising or similar roles
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify new funding opportunities
Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience preparing compelling proposals and reports.
Proven track record of securing grants from international development organizations, corporate foundations, and other funders.
Good understanding of donor compliance requirements and reporting guidelines/protocols such as EU, USAID, Swedish, Danish, Norway Embassy/Global Affairs Canada, FCDO, UN agencies among others.
Knowledge of the latest fundraising strategies and best practices.
Ability to work collaboratively with different teams within the organization along diverse backgrounds in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
Fluency in English required.
The Resources and Grant Mobilization Lead will report to the Head Operating Officer and work closely with program staff, senior leadership, and external stakeholders. This is a full-time position. Salary is commensurate with experience.
