The Security Officer is responsible for the implementation of the Country Security Plan and provides inputs into the security and safety procedures and incorporates best practice approaches, to ensure the safety and security of all SNV employees.

The Officer will support the Director of Operations to promote a culture of security, monitoring and analyzing security situations in Ethiopia. This includes security and safety incident management and investigations, technical security advice and training, security context analysis, and crisis management.

 Key Responsibilities

• Development and implementation of the Security Management Plan

• Support the Director Operations to operationalize Security Management Plan (SMP) and take on key activities including, but not limited to the following:

• Monitor the security environment and communicate changes to the environment to Country management with routine briefings and alerts.

• Be familiar with all existing documents in the central security file and the tools in place. Help modify existing policies and develop new ones as needed.

• Monitoring of and reporting on security situations and risks

• Monitors the security situation in Ethiopia and regularly liaises with Country Management Team.

• Analyze and advise on security incidents that affect operations

• Analyzes and advises on security risks, incidents, threats or failures that may affect operations.

• Secure travel processes

• Coordinate with project managers to track team movements in the field. Establish a communication system with the field team when/where necessary

• Representation in national networks

• Training of management and staff regarding security

• Security coordination and administration

Contract Duration: 1 year with the possibility of extension based on performance and Budget availability
