Short Description of the Company

Shayashone is an emerging business engaged in agribusiness advisory/consultancy services, manufacturing and distribution, commercialization of social impact products, and import and export. Recently, the company has expanded its portfolio to the education sector on a project with a development organization.

 Short Description of the Position

Shayashone PLC is looking for an Import and Export Officer who will be in charge of managing processes pertinent to the company’s import and export business. Our import business mainly focuses on input items and raw materials that can contribute to the betterment of Ethiopia’s agricultural productivity and food security. Relatedly, the export business depends on selected agricultural commodities. Currently, we are looking for a competent import and export officer to facilitate both the import and export business functions. The officer reports to the Operation Manager and will be based in Addis Ababa.

 Key Roles and Responsibilities

 Export Business Coordination

  • Organize sourcing of products for export in close consultation with the company’s internal consulting and project team.

  • Hunt and follow potential buyers in consultation with the consulting team.

  • Organize export process.

  • Attend communications with buyers and regulatory bodies.

  • Address issues related to export

Import Business Coordination

  • Organize import process that includes supplier communication, bank communication, and logistics issues.

  • Advise management on high-value imports for the business by constantly scanning the market

  • Coordinate issues with the finance and manufacturing team of the company.

  • Work on developing the current import portfolio to a higher level and meet targets.

Communication

  • Regularly report on progresses and operational issues to the operations head to the management.

  • Conduct external communications with customs, transistors, transporters, and others. 

Competencies

  • Good negotiation skills and sound networking with banks.

  • Ability to influence and persuade.

  • Ability to coordinate things in a smooth and formal manner.

  • Understanding of the import and export business process along with pertinent rules, regulations, and legislation

  • Ability to work in a team and independently

Problem-solving skill, ability to troubleshoot problems in a manner that outpaced operations at hand.

  • Outstanding spoken and written English and Amharic language

Preferred Age Range: 21-30 years

Job Requirements

Education

  •  Bachelor Degree and above in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, business management and other related fields

Work experience

  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience in import and export, business development, agri-business, market development, and other related

  • Preference is given to people who have first-hand experience in agricultural commodities and inputs import and export
