Job Description
Project Assistant for the project “Women and girls lead change for gender equality in Dubti district in the Afar Region.”
Reports to: Project officer
Station: Semera
Purpose of the Job
Ensure proper implementation of “Women and girls lead change for gender equality in Dubti district in the Afar Region.” project activities at the community level;
Provide technical support and follow-up to youth groups and school pupils which are involved in the project; and monitor and report activities Women and girls lead change for gender equality in Dubti district in the Afar Region.” projects at community and district level;
Liaise with community and local government structures regarding the above project matters.
Key-Responsibilities:
Establish or strengthen an Advisory Committee, made up of girls and adolescents, in schools.
Preparing weekly and monthly detail work plan in relation to objectives and deliverables;
Closely work with Power to You(th)/Kefeta projects team to link and coordinate similar activities in similar targets;
Ensure the implementation of project activities as per planned strategies;
Coordination of activities within the context of the area and ensuring implementation in collaboration with government stakeholders and beneficiaries;
Provide targeted technical assistance, follow-up, and supportive supervision to youth groups and school pupils that are involved;
Ensure project implementation in line with Amref Health Africa’s organizational objective and government policy, strategies and guidelines;
Planning and Facilitation of timely procurement of goods and services for projects;
Prepare and submit timely the monthly, quarterly, biannual and annual quality narrative reports to the project officers;
Prepare work plan and cash advance request;
Work with the program accountant, M & E officer and procurement officers to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in resource utilization;
Actively participate in assessments;
Organize and participate in review meetings, forums with partners;
Gather, compile and disseminate case stories from the field;
Effectively utilize Amref’s information management system, HR information system and other knowledge management platforms;
Undertake other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Bachelor Degree in health related field/public Health or sociology, economics, gender studies or relevant social science studies;
Experience of minimum 3 years related to Youth related projects, girls and women empowerment projects, gender based violence, any relevant gender issues;
Good team spirit and respect for organizational policies, rules and regulations;
Knowledge on safeguarding principles of all involved in the project;
Familiarity with the government health system;
NGO experience is an advantageous;
Good interpersonal communication & writing skills in both Amharic & English;
Excellent computer skills: Ms Windows, Ms Word and Excel, Ms outlook;
In addition, the ideal candidate must have strong analytical, problem solving and networking skills;
Having personal qualitied of being planned, organized and work under minimal supervision;
Has experience working in Debrebirhan, Tarmaber and Shewarobit and knows the context and culture very well;
