Background of the company
Kerchanshe Trading P.L.C is the largest producer and exporter of coffee in Ethiopia, It has a proud history of providing quality coffees to the local and international markets. Currently our company needs a dedicated and motivated candidate.
JOB SUMMARY:
Ensures that every construction activities are implemented as per schedule and plan, and adequate resources are supplied to Road works, Water Works and Building Construction works, etc. projects on time and works very closely with the General Manager of the Company for overall success of the company.
DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
Plans, organizes and coordinates the overall activities of projects;
Monitors the progress of each construction projects managed by their respective managers and/or representatives; Checks and controls progress reports versus schedules and ensures that they are completed to the standards required within agreed time-scales and to the agreed budget line;
Provides necessary supports to the project managers to ensure the feasibility of each project; negotiates terms of agreements as drafted on contracts; obtains permits and licenses for each project and create their own schedule; in collaboration with Company’s Senior Management he/she may identify suitable sub-contractors who can help complete the work; provides necessary supports to the project managers
Monitors and controls the implementation of projects in progress, the efficient utilization of construction equipment materials and labor resources; Often involves in negotiating with vendors and suppliers to obtain the best price and delivery schedule
Undertakes site check and carries out periodical site visits and inspections to determine the construction of planned works;
Maintains regular contact with other professionals and staff, by arranging and leading
regular team meetings so as to ensure that there is effective overall coordination.
Organize and establish the department with the required personal and equipments.
Plays a key coordination role and gives technical support to projects, maintains communications between projects and customers;
Advises on the purchase of plant and machinery to ensure that it is appropriate for the purposes intended;
Controls the time, cost and quality of construction projects, by making periodical studies and implementing improved working techniques that help boost manpower and equipment efficiencies.
Identifies problems that hinder project progress and finds solution for smooth and timely completion of projects; resolve problems that arise due to bad weather, emergencies or other issues that may cause delays
Identifies requests and follows up timely supply of logistics to projects;
Maintains knowledge of modern civil engineering techniques and processes and recommend any new systems that will enhance the effectiveness of the construction function;
Advises project managers on construction methods, materials, and quality and safety standards to ensure that plant and equipment, working methods and processes comply with design specifications and identified standards.
Keeping up- to- date with any policy and legislation changes
Submits monthly, quarterly and annual reports to the GM and/or Engineering department on the operations of the Company;
Evaluates performance of employees reporting to the department.
Performs other duties that may be assigned to him by the General Manager.
Job Requirements
Qualification
BSc Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management.
Experience
8/6 years of extensive construction industry experience for BSc & MSc Degrees respectively
Special Skill and Knowledge
Proficiency in the use of computers
Good communication and leadership skills
Knowladge of Afan Oromo is an added advantage
