Position Title  : Construction Supervisor

Reports To : Construction Coordinator   

Duration of Contract  : 5 months with possible extension per project period

Duty Station: Metakel, Gelel Belese

I.               Job Summary

 Plans and supervises infrastructure projects including the construction of schools, water wells, and latrines. Prepares and participates in the process of project bidding including document preparation, announcement, and evaluation in collaboration with local government officials. In addition, she/he facilitates construction activities, provides quality assurance, promotes community mobilization, and ensures that the project is completed as planned.  

 II.            Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepares plan for construction activities with corresponding budgets;

• Prepares complete designs, plans, and cost estimation of construction works that are to be implemented in Imagine 1 Day project areas;

• Regularly conducts project site visits as necessary to evaluate the progress and quality of the work;

• Prepares project bidding documents, project specifications, and bills of quantities for schools and other construction activities;

• Prepares construction contract agreements and ensures that supplementary agreements for additional work orders if any, are prepared timely;

• In collaboration with local government officials, facilitates construction activities and promotes community mobilization;  

• Prepares payment for completed construction activities as per the contract agreement;

• Documents and compiles the progress of projects through the preparation of periodic reports;

• Upon completion of the project, complete project monitoring and evaluation reports.

• Oversees the repair and maintenance of any substandard construction

• Build the capacity of Water Management Committees of targeted communities.

• Perform regular on-site supervision of constructions (both new constructions and re-innovation)

•  Perform other related tasks as requested.

Job Requirements

·       Academic Qualification

Bachelor Degree in Civil engineering, Construction Technology, Construction Management   

·       Work Experience

3 years relevant work experience (in construction supervision)

·       Special Training

Structural software, Computer literate, working knowledge of English

 Other Requirements

 We are searching for a reliable, deadline-driven construction supervisor to oversee constructions in different Woredas in our intervention Zone, (Metekel). The construction supervisor's responsibilities include monitoring the quality as per agreed standards and recommendations for improvement, as well. The person should ensure that projects stay within budget and that required materials and equipment are available.

 To be successful as a construction supervisor, you should demonstrate a sound understanding of safety regulations and building codes and be able to transfer this knowledge to your team. Top-notch construction supervisors are leaders who can identify problems and find feasible solutions to them.
