About the Organization

Development for Peace Organization (DPO) is an Ethiopian National Civil Society Organization, established in Addis Ababa 2020. The organization is officially registered in accordance with legislation on Agency for Civil Society Organization by the registration number of 5164 with mission to improve the lives of disadvantaged people through increasing their access to Health and Education services, supporting Income Generation and improving the natural environment, WaSH, one to one sponsorship, Humanitarian Response program and Peace and Reconciliation by applying a holistic and participatory approach.

Job Purpose

The HR Officer is expected to have a clear understanding of DPO’s objectives and be able to devise and implement policies relating to the effective use of personnel within the organization which select develop and retain the right staff needed to meet these objectives. The incumbent is not only deals with staff welfare and administration-centered activities but also strategy and planning. The HR Officer is expected to add value to the organization they support.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of HR initiatives and systems

  • Provide counseling on policies and procedures

  • Be actively involved in recruitment by preparing job descriptions, posting ads and managing the hiring process

  • Create and implement effective onboarding plans

  • Develop training and development programs

  • Assist in performance management processes

  •  Support the management of disciplinary and grievance issues

  • Maintain employee records (attendance, staff data etc.) according to policy and legal requirements

  •  Review employment and working conditions to ensure legal compliance

  • Make sure the new employee fulfil the necessary pre-employment document.

  • Check that the annual leave, sick leave and compensation leave requests and attendance sheets are approved, archive them in personal files.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

Education

  • BA Degree in Management, Public Administration, and Human Resource Management

Experience

  • At least 6 years relevant experience related with HR working practices, recruitment, conditions of employment, negotiation with external work-related agencies and managing employee-related issues.

  • Comprehensive knowledge on Human Resource Information System

  • Experience in NGO environment is a plus
