Job Description

Wine making has been a part of the Ethiopian culture for more than a millennium, dating back to the Axumite era. Although this traditional method has survived all that time, the methods, quality, and variety stayed the same. In 1943 GC (1936 Ethiopian Calendar), a Greek family started the first winery in Ethiopia around followed by an Italian family who established their winery at Mekanisa. The two ventures where nationalized in 1973 and regrouped in one entity that was named Awash Wine. Since that time, we have grown to be one of the country’s most loved brands-a market leader that is interwoven with the cultural fabric of the county.

Job Summary

Manage the supply chain team to ensure procurement and delivery of goods and services as per the demand and time for use. Ensure efficient and effective management of inventory. Perform clearance and delivery of imported items timely and check all the documents are fulfilled and delivered timely. Manage the logistics of material movements and fresh grapes and warehouse of materials.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

1.       Supply Chain team

  • Manage the supply chain team to ensure that the team objectives set by the Managing Director are met

  • Track employees’ performance versus their targets and milestones

  • Establish key performance indicators, monitor ongoing performance, and improve performance against set goals

  • Support the development of supply chain-based training materials and technical manuals

  • Develop analytics, systems, and data management capabilities, including metrics and reports

  • Address tactical and strategic supply chain issues. Identify and manage risk within the supply chain

  • Support production planning and forecasting

  • Manage purchasing, inventory control, warehousing, and transportation

  • Ensure information flow between staff, other departments, senior management, and decision makers to share information, successes, challenges, and to clarify management objectives

2.       Clearing and delivery

  • Responsible for arranging shipments, as well as complying with customs and regulatory bodies regulations and maintaining relationships with freight forwarders and coordinating their efforts

  • Ensure imported goods are covered with total risk insurance as per customs and bank requirements

  • Manage third party logistic relationships negotiating in-bound freight and carrier contracts and terms

  • Manage third party clearing agents ensuring that imported goods are cleared from customs in record time

  • Record suppliers and agents’ performance

  • Ensure request of the required currency is applied to bank for imported items

  • Ensure proper care and follow up is given to imported items on the delivery and arrival of the goods at the airport or seaport

  • Maintain, file and record delivery documents, good receipts, invoices and returned imported goods for the purpose of ensuring the availability of documentation and compliance with established policies and regulatory guidelines

  • Check the arrival of documents at the bank and at the forwarding company

  • Collect and confirm conformance of documents received from banks, transport and shipping Companies, Transistors, suppliers and so on……. And replay accordingly.

  • Settle payments required for custom clearance, freight, and other purposes timely

  • Collect the necessary clearance documents from concerned party after settling the required payment.

  • Ensure clearance documents are submitted and the item collected from the area custom authority

  • Follow up and monitor good receipt issuance and financial settlement of each transaction

  • Develop and implement new systems, best practices, inventory control, demand planning, and other optimizations in order to grow the busines

  • Enforces procedures to ensure proper recording, storage, tracking, incoming inspection of all items purchased by the Company

  • Ensure receipt and issuance of goods as per the policies and procedure of the company

  • Ensure proper material handling and storage is in place

  • Ensure proper layout of stores is in place for smooth and efficient operations of the plant

  • Ensure proper preservatives to protect from rain, sun, humidity, moisture, insects, physical and natural deterioration is established

  • Ensure accessibility for different mode of transportation

  • Ensure Transit store and dispatching as well as the proper physical count is undertaken periodically to confirm movement of items is without deviation Ensure delivery and arrival of the goods at the proper warehouse.

Job Requirements

Education  

MA or BA Degree graduate in Supply Chain Management, Materials Management, Management, Finance, Procurement, and Logistics

Experience

10 years’ experience in related field of which at least 4 years’ experience at managerial level

  • Experience in organizing and leading cross-functional teams of individuals and leading team.

  • good time management, with the ability to work under pressure, maintain accuracy and keep to deadlines

  • Experience in strategic planning, annual planning and roll forecast, performance management and reporting
