Emory university Ethiopia is registered as an international not for profit, non-government organization and established a legal presence and a country office in Addis Ababa and operating in Ethiopia since 2011. Emory University is dedicated to implement a community based Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) and nutrition interventions to support the Ministry of Health’s efforts to increase access to and utilization of Quality Maternal and Newborn Health and Nutrition Services.
Emory University is seeking qualified candidates for the following open post.
The Safety and Security Advisor will directly report to the Deputy Country Director and work with the Program Director and Emory’s Director of Global Safety and Security.
Specific Functions and Responsibilities:
Responsible for proper follow-up and safety audits all times.
Respond to inquiries and request for information and provide prompt guidance.
Maintains and updates the weekly safety and security report, assessment log.
Works on continuous improvement of safety and security policy, procedure and practices
Attentively monitors new and revised health, safety and security legislations
Responsible to deliver and co-ordinate health and safety related trainings and awareness creation sessions
Vigilantly scrutinize health and safety risks and recommend/implement applicable measures.
Conduct frequent supportive supervision visits on each regional project offices Facilitates onsite briefings for international visitors.
Attends regular meetings with Emory’s Global Safety and Security unit.
Level of Travel: Travel to the regional offices and field sites as required
Terms of employment: Six months on Consultancy basis with possible extension
Number required: 1 (one)
Education Qualification/Work Experience/Technical Skills
Bachelor’s Degree and five years of relevant safety, security, and/or risk management experience, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience
Registered as security officer, graduated from Police College.
Outstanding surveillance and observation skills.
Excellent communication skills. Proficiency in English (writing, speaking)
Strong reporting skills.
Working knowledge of public safety, security operations, and procedures
Must maintain an insurable driving record.
