Job Description

Amref is currently preparing to implement Tena Leselam (Health for Peace) to accelerate a rapid recovery from the effects of conflict and resume already implemented development projects. The project will implement integrated WASH, nutrition, SGBV, SRHR and peacebuilding and Income Generating Activity in the selected project intervention woredas. The restoration of health facilities is a critical intervention to ensure the continuity of these essential health services, along with strengthening the referral mechanism between different facilities, capacity building of healthcare workers and the availability of clean and potable water. This requires a collaboration between communities, civil society (CSOs and CBOs), government, Universities and the private sector.

Amref Health Africa would like to recruit 3 Project Assistants based in Debrebirhan, Kemissie and Dessie/Kombolcha, Amhara region and will report to the Project Manager/Consortium lead.

 JOB SUMMARY:

 The Project Assistant under the supervision of the project manager will be responsible for providing management and technical assistance in day to day implementation of Tena Leselam project. He/She will be primarily responsible for ensuring the achievement of specific project deliverables and targets in the project.The Assistant is expected to carryout routine activity planning and implementation of filed level activities; coordinate and monitor/supervise timely implementation of project activities and the budget utilization under his/her custody. He/She will be responsible for organizing and facilitating trainings, conducting regular site visits, and provide technical assistance. He/she will ensure the implementation of Nutrition, Maternal and child health, Water and sanitation and hygiene, Reintegration of victims of violence against women, income and peace building in collaboration with Universities and civil society organizations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide over all assistance in the development of detail periodic plans and budgets.

  • Assist service delivery sites in meeting quality standards by providing training, training follow-up visits, clear performance feedback and technical support as needed, particularly in Health System Strengthening

  • Collaborate with regional team, technical and program team to improve community health seeking behavior on WASH, Nutrition, and Maternal, Child health, GBV services  

  • Monitor the activity of the project supported sites and provide necessary guidance and technical assistance

  • Ensure the proper implementation of project activities and monitor progress regularly with periodic supervision and review meetings in coordination with project implementing partners.

  • Conduct regular site visits, in liaison with other partners, to monitor progress and quality to ensure high standards of services and effective use of all resources.

  • Identify with other technical staff and counterpart’s lessons learned and potential best practices, participate in the documentation and dissemination of best practices.

  • Carry out other Amref Health Africa assignments as may be required and as directed by the project manager, technical advisors at the country office.

 Job Requirements

  • BSC in Health science, Social science, related field of studies

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience which are directly related to WASH, Nutrition, Emergency response and development nexus

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English language.
