About the Ethiopian Red Cross Society
The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) was established in 1935 and is one of the oldest and largest humanitarian organizations in Ethiopia. ERCS provides services to communities affected by natural and manmade disasters through the provision of emergency responses, ambulance and first aid, family reunification, essential drugs, water and sanitation, and other humanitarian services. ERCS also runs disaster risk reduction programs with the aim of creating resilience households and communities. Currently the ERCS has a structure consisting of 12 Regional Offices, 34 Zonal Branches and 131 District/Woreda Branches, 599 Woreda Red Cross Committee and 5871 Kebele Red Cross committees.
ERCS also runs disaster risk reduction programs relating to food security, climate change adaptation, livelihood diversification, and institutional capacity building interventions, with the aim of creating resilience households and communities. ERCS works in partnership with the Ethiopian Government, International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC), International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), partnering National Societies, members, volunteers and the communities we serve.
Key performance Areas
Job summary
Reporting to the Finance director, this key role will play an important part in delivering the transformation agenda, focusing on implementing the finance transformation plan for significant change. The post-holder will be responsible for leading and coordinating the development and implementation of ambitious and complex Finance transformation plan including elements of remodeling of services/ business processes, finance related policy revision and change management for optimum efficiency at both NHQ and regions/zonal and branch levels.
Strategic duties and responsibilities
Lead transformation priorities, utilizing project management principles, supporting and directing the transformation team and wider internal and external colleagues.
Drive change within and across finance department to deliver identified strategic outcomes.
Lead on the development and communication of robust project plans, engaging stakeholders in the process, and managing the wider expectations.
Working closely with regions, zonal and branches to ensure that the changes are understood, owned, and embedded within the operations. Acting as a change agent, delivering outcomes using communication, influence, and engagement.
Specific duties and responsibilities
Coordinate internally (Finance working group, other departments, and zonal/region/branches) and externally (Partners) on the revision of finance related policies and dissemination of the same to all staff.
Working closely with the process owners and finance director, coordinate the review of the business process and remodelling to new ‘to be’ processes.
Working closely with finance director and unit heads within finance department, coordinate with staff and ensure clarity of their role and awareness of their authority/responsibility. Ensuring, Finance department structure is appropriate and sufficient for the scale of operations.
Working closely with SAP consultants and finance director, coordinate with key users of different modules ensuring that the software fulfills needs of ERCS and the transition is successful.
Working closely with the asset management consultant and HR director, coordinate the asset registry for accuracy and completeness, asset verification, valuation, and proper recording in SAP assets/inventory module.
Support the finance director in coordinating the implementation of external and internal auditor’s recommendations through a plan of action to address the auditors’ comments in management letter.
Coordinate with finance staff all capacity building initiatives, trainings and workshops ensuring intended impact is achieved and monitor for effectiveness of such interventions.
Prepare routine transformation project reports. Reporting delivery of the project outcomes, keeping stakeholders informed of progress, and escalating issues as appropriate.

Job Requirements
Qualification Requirements:
Second/First degree in Accounting/Master’s Business Administration( MBA ) or relevant subject/ACCA
8/10 years related work experience, out of which 4/6 years in a managerial position(s)
