ALIMA IN ETHIOPIA
At the end of March 2022, ALIMA visited Ethiopia for the first time to develop official contacts and gather enough information to set up an ALIMA mission in the country. At the end of May 2022, ALIMA conducted an exploratory mission in the Afder zone in order to better understand the context, and to assess the health and nutrition needs, to identify the need for a humanitarian intervention. ALIMA did the same in early 2023 in Afar region, zone 2 and Zone 4. Three woredas were targeted in Afder: Hargele, Barey and Elkare, and one in Zone 2 (Afar region): Berahile.
ALIMA is planning to set up a new mission in Ethiopia. Being a new country of intervention, ALIMA is looking for a new team to guarantee the implementation of a new project as well as all administrative and logistical requirements to establish ALIMA in the country. This team will be based in Cherati and will ensure the implementation of the activities, will ensure a smooth beginning of operations on the ground.
The main activities to come will consist of :
In the short-term: prepare and launch in collaboration with the Ministry of Health a project contributing to the reduction of morbidity and mortality of communities affected by the drought.
In the mid-to-long term: ensure the follow-up of the first project, develop partnerships with key stakeholders (MoH, civil society, research institutes…), conduct new assessments in areas with acute humanitarian needs and launch new activities.
LOCATION OF POSITION: Somali region, Afder Zone, Cherati with frequent visits of project areas

Level 3: As part of his/her duties, the incumbent will visit programs and come into contact with children and/or vulnerable adults. Therefore, a criminal record check or a certificate of good conduct will be required. In situations where it is not possible to provide a criminal record or a certificate of good conduct, a declaration of honor will be requested.
FUNCTIONAL AND HIERARCHICAL LINKS
He/she reports to the Head of Mission
He/she manages the project management team (e.g. Medical Referent, Project Administration Manager, Logistic Project Manager, etc.).
He/she collaborates with the coordination (medical, logistic, financial, and human resources) and with the partners.
MAIN TASK
Under the supervision of the Head of Mission,you are responsible for the implementation of the country's operational strategy in the area of intervention, in line with the three-year strategic plan and ALIMA's mandate.
More specifically, you are responsible for the implementation of the project and for contributing to the results set for the project according to the evolution of the humanitarian situation and the needs in the intervention zone and on the basis of the medico-operational objectives prefixed in collaboration with the coordination, in the respect of the humanitarian principles and the mandate of ALIMA.
You are the guarantor of the security of your teams in the whole intervention zone. You are responsible for the supervision of the teams, the monitoring of the programmatic indicators and the contractual indicators of the donors, and the monitoring of the project's expenses - with the support of the coordination - and the communication with the governmental and non-governmental actors in relation to the project.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Training
You have a project Management qualification
You have a medical degree/paramedical qualification or Master’s degree in public health / epidemiology.
Experience
You have experience in medical INGO in managing medical projects and supervising a multicultural team
You demonstrate deep negotiation capacity and are able to develop and maintain an efficient network
You like to develop strategic vision for new program and supporting a multidisciplinary team in encouraging teamwork
Languages skills
A strong command of both spoken and written English is essential for this position; proficiency in local language (Somali and Oromo) would be considered an asset.
