The Community-led Accelerated WASH Project, Phase IV (COWASH IV) is a bi-lateral project financed by the Governments of Ethiopia and Finland. The project is supporting the Ethiopian WASH sector in seven regions covering 104 woredas using the Community Managed Project (CMP) approach. COWASH IV runs from 01 April 2021 to 31 December 2024. NIRAS Finland Oy who is providing technical assistance services for the project is seeking to recruit an energetic and dynamic Communications and Dissemination Specialist to join the Federal Technical Assistance Team for the remainder of the project:

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the effort to disseminate COWASH IV learning including the updating of the COWASH IV Communication Strategy and coordinating and monitoring COWASH IV knowledge sharing activities;

• Preparation of promotional materials such as banners, leaflets, videos, photos, radio programs, etc.;

• Manage the COWASH web site (currently under development);

• Preparation of case stories, news articles, brochures and presentations;

• Facilitating experience sharing visits (inside/outside Ethiopia);

• Manage COWASH IV’s social media platforms; and

• Organize local WASH media events to promote COWASH IV and its achievements

Place of the assignment:

• Based in the Ministry of Water and Energy, Addis Ababa with frequent travel to the regions.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

Education and Language Capability:

• BSc. in a relevant field

• Fluency in English with excellent writing skills.

Experience and Skills:

• Recent relevant experience in media, journalism, communications, public relations or a related field;

• Experience of working with a development organization;

• Good knowledge of the Government of Ethiopia institutional structure: Federal to community levels; 

• An understanding of the Ethiopian WASH sector and its key actors would be an advantage;

• Must be able to write clearly and informatively and present technical information effectively;

• Experience in the management and maintenance of websites;

• Experience using social media (Twitter, Facebook etc.) for strategic communication;

• Ability to train and energize team members contributing to communications activities;

• Excellent computer skills (MS Office, Adobe In-design, Abode Photoshop etc.); and

• The ability to work and communicate in an international environment and with diverse cultures.
