Job Description
Programme Management - To develop and implement the The organization Ethiopia programme of work, aligned to the country specific and organisational Strategic Plan;
Administration and Governance - To ensure the The organization Ethiopia country programme is compliant with The organization ’s policies and procedures and local legal compliance needs;
Business Development - To proactively seek to identify fundraising opportunities and engage with Head Office for donor engagement;
Integration and Collaboration with The organization Head Office - Work closely with the wider The organization team providing support as required.
To develop and implement the The organization Ethiopia programme of work, aligned to the country specific and organisational Strategic Plan:
Develop, lead and manage a high quality programme of work and deliver programme activities in line with the planned budget in collaboration with local partners and the wider organization programme team;
Support development and coordination of data collection for Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning to track Results Framework indicators;
Manage partner grants, including reporting cycles, supervision of partner activities and work plans, and regular on-going support as needed;
Conduct regular field visits both together with, and independent of implementing partners;
Liaise with local Education Bureau’s on an ongoing basis and ensure that programme approach is feasible for integration into local and national government provision in the long term;
2. To ensure the The organization Ethiopia country programme is compliant with The organization’s policies and procedures and local legal compliance needs:
Responsible for oversight, implementation and adherence of organization’s Safeguarding policies, practises and procedures across programming and implementing partners;
Cooperate fully with organizationHead of Finance to ensure effective budget management and compliance with organization’s Finance Manual;
Coordinate with organization Head of HR on all issues relating to HR and the staff handbook;
Coordinate with the Head of MEL to ensure effective systems for data collection and analysis are in line with organization MEL systems;
Coordinate with Head Office colleagues in ensuring compliance with Funder requirements.
3. To proactively seek to identify fundraising opportunities and engage with Head Office for donor engagement:
Coordinate with Head of Programmes and Strategic Direction to identify and engage with potential donors;
b. Support with the development and submission of high quality funding proposals including development of associated budgets to support applications where needed;
Support the writing of donor reports and internal reporting requirements as needed.
4. Work closely with the wider The organization team providing support as required:
Be a strong team player for The organization both internally and externally by motivating others to become actively involved to support the organisation;
Report to and cooperate fully with the Head of Programmes & Strategic Direction on all aspects of your work, producing monthly objectives and reports in line with the Logic Model/Results Framework and indicators;
Attend and participate fully in organisational team meetings as and when required; this includes the need to travel outside of Ethiopia, specifically to Northern Ireland/ Ireland, and/or Tanzania periodically.
Be flexible in terms of working hours, as the role may include working at weekends and in the evenings;
Adhere to all organisational policies, practises and procedures and implement accordingly;
Undertake any other duties to support the operations of the organisation as and when required.
Safeguarding Risk:
This role is considered to present a High rating of safeguarding risk. The role will include periodic field work in schools and communities whereby the staff will be interacting directly with children.
Based At: Addis Ababa with travel to regions (mainly Oromia and Addis Ababa)

Educated to university degree level in a relevant field.
Minimum of 4 years programme management experience in an International development organisation.
Demonstrable experience in the school education sector in Ethiopia (preferably Early Childhood Education).
Strong understanding and demonstrable experience of results-based management processes, including taking the lead on MEL (Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning) informing programme management and development.
Demonstrable experience of effectively engaging with government sector ministries, especially health and education, in positioning and implementing NGO development programmes.
Demonstrable experience of providing effective capacity building support to local Civil Society Organisations’ to deliver development programmes.
Demonstrable experience in working with national and international donors.
Experience in managing the project cycle.
Ability to strategically align activities, projects and country education priorities.
Experience of implementing safeguarding across programming activities.
Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to work as part of a collaborative and growing partnership.
Flexibility and adaptability to adjust to contextual challenges and needs accordingly.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools – especially Outlook, Word and Excel.
Fluency in English and Amharic (verbal and writing).
