Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Metal and Mineral Testing Laboratory Technician to join our team. As a Laboratory Technician, you will play a vital role in conducting various tests and analyses on metal and mineral samples, ensuring accurate and reliable results. Your work will contribute to supporting mining operations, exploration projects, and quality control in the mining industry.

Responsibilities:

• Perform a range of laboratory tests and analyses on metal and mineral samples using standard testing techniques and equipment.

• Prepare samples for analysis, including sample cleaning, crushing, grinding, and pulverizing as necessary.

• Conduct chemical, physical, and mineralogical analyses to determine composition, purity, and quality of metal and mineral samples.

• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and adherence to safety protocols.

• Record and analyze test data, prepare accurate reports, and maintain meticulous documentation of laboratory activities and findings.

• Collaborate with other laboratory staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of testing projects.

• Monitor and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies, reagents, and consumables, ensuring availability for testing activities.

• Adhere to laboratory quality control procedures, including participation in proficiency testing and maintaining laboratory accreditations.

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, suggesting enhancements to testing methods, processes, and procedures.

Job Requirements

Qualifications: 

• Degree or diploma in Chemistry, Geology, or a related field. Relevant certifications or training in laboratory techniques and safety protocols are desirable.

• Proven experience working in a laboratory environment, preferably in metal and mineral testing.

• Strong understanding of laboratory testing techniques, equipment, and procedures specific to metal and mineral analysis.

• Familiarity with industry standards and quality control procedures related to metal and mineral testing.

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in recording and analyzing data.

• Proficient in using laboratory software and data management systems.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment.

• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
