Job Description
Purpose of the Position:
The role holder’s responsibilities include designing and implementing tests, debugging and defining corrective actions on decoders.
Key Accountabilities
§ Operational Delivery
o Maintain best practice on decoder performance.
o Manage the necessary analytical tools to measure performance of decoders.
o Design solutions, develop processes to ensure timely resolution of decoder faults.
o Ensure quality checks are performed on all decoders before dispatch to respective locations / branches
o Constantly perform random quality checks on decoders from the regions.
o Ensure preventive/corrective maintenance planning and scheduling on all decoders.
o Consult with representatives of various branches/offices concerning quality assurance and safety issues especially as related to sampling or analytical problems, and use of decoder repair tools and equipment’s.
§ Technical Reporting
o Analyze decoder repair reports from the decoder repair workshops and service engineers.
o Provide trends in decoder repairs identifying critical areas of concern and reoccurring issues with specific decoder models.
o Escalate reports on accuracy of codes provided by the decoder swop team.
o Develop, maintain and review quality control charts: i.e (Number of faulty decoders from branches/outlets and turnaround time for repairs.
o Maintain the decoder quality assurance database
Job Requirements
The incumbent is required to have the following qualifications and experience level:
§ Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related field
§ A diploma in electrical engineering or equivalent with minimum of 3 years applicable decoder repair experience.
§ Registration with engineering body would be an advantage
The incumbent is required to have the following technical competencies:
§ High level of Multichoice-relevant technology operations knowledge
§ Electrical Equipment repairs, Modular swap-outs
§ Monitoring practice
§ Computer Literacy – IT Networking (Essential)
§ Digital signal measurements
§ Radio frequency (Rf) knowledge, including measurements, i.e proficiency with the use of Rf test equipment.
§ Power utility equipment
