Founded in 2012 EC as SantimPay Engineering PLC and later changed into SantimPay Financial Solutions S.C (SantimPay) in 2014 EC under the new Payment System Operator License regulation of the National Bank of Ethiopia, was formed with the aim of providing simple and smart financial technology solutions to empower individuals and businesses not only in Ethiopia but also elsewhere in the world, including the greater Africa region.

 SantimPay is one of the leading payment system operators in Ethiopia providing multi-channel payment solutions to banks, merchants, and individuals. Currently, in order to meet our growing demand and increase our internal operational capacity, we are looking for a self-motivated and results-driven Chief Operations Officer (COO) to direct and manage our organization's business activities and to develop and implement effective business operational strategies and programs.

Purpose of Employment: The goal of the person filling in the post is to do all operations management tasks including planning, executing, monitoring, and controlling and growing the system and the capacities of the SantimPay operational team in accordance with the directions and policies set out by the board of directors and its representatives.  He / She will also work closely with top management to support the finance, human resources, and marketing departments. 

Job Requirements

Qualification and Profile:

  • BA in business administration and information systems or equivalent from business management programs from a recognized institute

  • More than 5 (five) years experience for MA or more than seven (7) years of experience for a BA in a management position at a company that has not gone bankrupt.

  • MBA applicants with a background in engineering are encouraged.

  • International project management certification is preferred but not mandatory.

  • The candidate is preferred to have experience and/or interest in financial technologies and local, regional, and international business.

  • Willing to learn new skills and innovatively apply oneself to accomplish the objectives and vision of SantimPay

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Undertake in a team and independently, all managerial tasks including the day-to-day activities of the company.

  • Execution of strategic objectives in close collaboration with top management

  • Work with the management team and Santim Pay operational team to ensure the holistic satisfaction of clients with an eye for optimization of functionality, economy, security levels, and appeal of all products and services. 

  • Support in the continuous growth of the company including developing and growing the company’s policies, values, and management/quality system

  • Work according to the policies, values, and quality system of SantimPay

A detailed job description will be shared during the recruitment and orientation of the successful candidate. However, it would include:

  • overseeing existing and upcoming business operations,

  • allocating budget resources,

  • formulating policies for board approval,

  • coordinating business operations,

  • monitoring and motivating staff,

  • managing operational costs,

  • ensuring good customer service,

  • improving administration processes,

  • engaging with partners and vendors,

  • hiring and training employees,

  • identifying business opportunities, and

  • monitoring financial activities.

The COO’s entrepreneurial spirit and vision in directing business functions are intended to enable our organization to maintain successful relationships with partners, clients, and vendors, generate new business, increase staff productivity, improve service, ensure sustainability, and meet business objectives.

Personal Competencies and Skills:

  • Good command of English (spoken and written)

  • Good computer programming skills are desired but not mandatory

  • Good ERP and MS Office skills

  • Good human skills

  • Good learner (eagerness and quickness)

  • Good professional ethics

  • Good personal management
