Child Safeguarding:
Level 3: Level 3: either the role holder will have access to personal data about children and/or young people as part of their work; or they will be working in a ‘regulated’ position (accountant, barrister, solicitor, legal executive); therefore, a police check will be required (at ‘standard’ level in the UK or equivalent in other countries).
ROLE PURPOSE:
Under the direct supervision of the Child Protection Coordinator. the Child Protection Project Officer, will ensures strengthen the child protection system through engagement, awareness raising and working with community-based structures, child protection service providers, and other sectoral service providers to prevent and mitigate risks of violence, abuse, including sexual exploitation and abuse, neglect, and family separation. the proper implementation of the Child Friendly Spaces Project. Save the children will respond to the psychosocial needs of boys, girls and their male and female care providers through provision of MHPSS and PFA services, creating safe, gender, age and culturally play and recreational environment and resilience building activities Provide training and orientation. Ensure that all activities are in line with Save the Children's goals and policies. This means active participation and interaction in child-friendly activities together with the Children, as well as the volunteers and the rest of the staff. The Supervisor shall follow up plans, administer, monitor and evaluate the activities being implemented by the Child Protection team in the CFC, in a manner consistent with SCI programming principle and the mission’s program focus and strategy.

Be a role model for the rest of the Staff in active involvement/ interaction with children in play and all our CP activities. This means to spend as much time as possible in the Child Friendly Centres to inspire the staff and volunteers by showing all children respect, care and commitment in the way we are treating them.
Actively participates in several coordination groups, including the Child protection and GBV Area of responsibility, national and regional protection clusters, Child protection and GBV sub working group and the national alliance to end FGM and child marriage
Working in coordination with other actors allows SC to avoid duplication of services, conduct joint assessment, share experiences and learnings.
Take a leading role in inspiring and empowering the team in all technical and practical tasks regarding the Child protection program.
Ensure the integrated GBV-CP response seeks to address both individual safety and protection concerns, as well as contribute to safe and protective society by facilitating access to services and empowering local communities
To address the psychosocial distress of children and families SC will build capacities of governmental and non-governmental service providers through MHPSS and PFA training
Addressing GBV concerns and creating safe access to services will also lead to better care for children, reduce family dispute, maintain family unity, and reduce harmful coping mechanisms and violent parenting means at household level.
In coordination with Child Protection team members, support regular participatory activities with different groups of children to identify issues affecting children in their communities, and assist the teams in developing appropriate responses.

Provide training and orientation for CFS Facilitators on setting up and managing a CFS, on Child Rights, Child Participation, Child Protection (including the Child Protection Policy), and provide on-going support and mentoring to practice these concepts.
Build resilience capacities of children and their care providers through organizing consecutive resilience workshops.
Mainstream protection across sectors to ensure the safety and dignity of all beneficiaries and community members associated with the project.
Compile quantitative and qualitative updated data and reports on weekly and monthly basis.
Report general protection issues in the operational areas to the Child Protection officer/coordinator or any next level supervisor.
Identify and provide psychological first aid supports to children and care providers showing obvious signs of distress. SC will train governmental and non-governmental service on PFA and MHPSS to enable them to provide ongoing MHPSS and PFA services for children and families in distress through referral and/or direct support.
Conduct workshop to map existing community-based child protection structures that are working on child protection issues
Organize training on child protection issues including identification, documentation, referral and reporting of children at risk for members of community based child protection structures
Provide psychosocial support to boys, girls and their male and female care providers through provision of MHPSS and PFA services, creating safe, gender, age and culturally play and recreational environment and resilience building activities
Make sure that there is absolutely zero tolerance for corporal punishment or aggression from our volunteers, guards or other staff. If this occurs, the Supervisor must immediately reprimand the person and provide a written report to the CP officer, who is obliged to take necessary steps. Supervisor shall also ensure that our zero tolerance for all forms of physical punishment / aggression, motorized vehicles, tobacco or consumption of chat at our CFS, is made known to all who are committed by Save the Children. All such cases shall be immediately reported to the CP officer.
Monitoring /evaluation
Present weekly/monthly and quarterly project status report to CP Coordinator, which will include activity progress, and highlight any areas, which need special management attention.
Undertake site supervision to review status of project implementation and to advice or any corrective action that needs to be taken.
Any other duties as assigned by the line manager and/or the SCI management

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
To be considered for the position, applicants should have:
Degree in social work, childcare or related degree is preferable.
Preferred working experience related to child protection or child care
Good organizational, communication and writing skills.
Good human relation skills.
The Supervisor must have the ability to participate in direct interaction with children by taking an active role during play and other activities.
All of our CP staff must demonstrate an open and inclusive attitude, commitment to the importance of protecting children and manage to work under pressure and appreciate challenges. Good teamwork skills are necessary.
