JOB SUMMARY:
Amref Health Africa is seeking a Digital Media Officer to provide technical leadership and support for the USAID Integrated Youth Activity (IYA) that aims to empower youth to advance their own economic, civic and social development across 18 major cities of Ethiopia. This position will support digital media interventions and the Kefeta virtual space operations of IYA. He or she will help in designing and posting digital media content into the virtual space, Kefeta Telegram, Facebook and other social media platforms as appropriate. He or she will also support the documentation and sharing of the program’s progress, innovations and success stories through meaningful engagement of young people in digital space. S/he is responsible for the data-sharing processes among the consortium partners and the youth through digital media. Depending on the need and as appropriate, this position holder will closely work with the M&E team on database management support and on documentation of success stories and sharing them regularly on digital media options.
The Digital Media Officer is responsible for managing Kefeta’s social media channels, coordinating the production of digital content for Kefeta’s Virtual space, Facebook and telegram pages and other social media platforms, and other marketing activities as directed.
Plan and implement social media campaigns that drive youth beneficiaries’ growth and engagement.
Manage the creation of digital content (including photography and video) for publication through various digital channels including liaison with external digital agencies and internal communications department.
Manage the weekly scheduling of Kefeta’s social media content.
Coordinate and support the creation of all digital content such as websites, blogs, press releases and podcasts, infographics, videos, etc.
Support the establishment of Kefeta’s web presence and work to improve our brand presence
Maintain and manage all our social media channels in collaboration with the content development manager and the ICT unit of Amref
Provide suggestions on different social media service promotion or marketing methods
Suggest strategies and methods for improvement
Regularly track and get insights into other stakeholders’ strategies
Stay up-to-date with digital media technologies and the latest trends
Monitor and track the feedback on the digital media platforms and provide regular summary reports to the senior management and also indicate red flags as appropriate
Ensure appropriate marketing and promotional opportunities for Kefeta’s events and activities in close collaboration with the different technical leads and directors.
Undertake event coordination and support of project-wide events e.g. festivals, review meetings, advocacy workshops and others as appropriate.
Ensure the branding and marking compliance of the contents uploaded on the kefeta social media platforms
Synchronize the social media information and user tracking system into Kefeta’s
Database system for coordinated recording and reporting
Support the M&E team in capacity building, data quality assurance, database management, coordination and implementation of other M&E activities
Undertake other duties, as required.
BSc/BA degree in statistics, health informatics, marketing or social science or equivalent education and at least 3 years of work experience;
Knowledge and experience in the different database and statistical packages (DHIS2, SPSS, Microsoft Office applications);
Experience cultivating relationships and collaborating with a variety of Ethiopian stakeholders including youth, NGOs, the private sector, and community-based institutions;
Demonstrated commitment to creating a learning environment in an activity including experiences leading digital media platforms;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
Experience working collaboratively with teams from diverse backgrounds;
Strong presentation, reporting, and communication skills;
Spoken and written fluency in English and Amharic;
Experience in the creation and coordination of content, including photography and video, for digital marketing.
Extensive knowledge and experience managing multiple social media platforms including, but not limited to, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn
Experience using Facebook Ads management and scheduling tools
Desirable qualifications
Skills and experience using video editing software.
Good knowledge of Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, Audacity or other media editing software
Experience with visual communication methods
Knowledge of web design
Experience with content management
Team player
Good time-management skills
BSc degree in Marketing, Digital media or relevant field
