Overview 

The Luminos Fund—an international non-profit bringing education opportunities to the most vulnerable children- in collaboration with Tigray Interim Government Education Bureau and the Federal Ministry of Education recently conducted a Situation Analysis Survey on the academic status and psychosocial challenges facing primary school students in Tigray, with a focus on children who have been internally displaced.

 The survey was conducted by the Institute for Education, Health, and Development PLC (InEHD), and Tigray Interim Regional Education Bureau experts. The survey sought to assess the impact of the conflict on children’s education, identify gaps, and determine the priority needs of primary-school-aged students who were forced to be out of school due to the COVID-19 pandemic and conflict in Tigray. Furthermore, the survey identifies strategies for addressing these challenges.

 Luminos Fund plans to launch this research on an upcoming validation workshop scheduled for June 22nd, 2023, and thus is seeking a skilled translator/interpreter with a background in Education to provide an interpretation service from Amharic and Tigrigna to English and Vice versa including to provide the necessary facilities and equipment needed to facilitate the interpretation.

 The interpreter is expected to Interpret between source and target language with accuracy, clarity, and transparency. As well as provide facilities for the facilitation of the interpretation. 

Job Requirements

Desired profile and skills

•  Excellent command of English, Amharic, and Tigrinya.

• 2 years of professional experience. Previous interpreter or translator experience is an advantage.

• University education/Degree in Interpretation, Translation is an advantage.
